I am loathe to post the following because people who opine on abortion do so by taking their talking point from either left media, or worse, right media.
Moreover, most who are against abortion are not against it for any "moral" reasons but because liberals support abortion and that is enough to be against it.

However, for the few who might want to get a real grasp at where we are at with the abortion debate, some sources to consider:

Key points:

The World’s Abortion Laws

Globally, there is an overwhelming trend towards the liberalization of abortion laws.

Over the past 30 years, more than 60 countries and territories have liberalized their abortion laws.

Only four countries have rolled back the legality of abortion.

Can we guess which four?

KEY FACTS ON ABORTION

Key Points:

Criminalising abortion does not stop abortions, it just makes abortion less safe

Almost every death and injury from unsafe abortion is preventable

Access to safe abortion is a matter of human right

Hopefully some will actually delve deeper into the links provided, but as I prefaced, I suspect few will and most will give an opinion nevertheless based strictly on their partisan and biased views.

I've said some states are socially backwards on the issue of abotions. Not surprisingly, some of those states also supported slavery back in the day. Not a great track record in regards to social progress and individual rights/autonomy.

It's pathetic and scary how so many are willing to accept the Dark Ages indoctrination of the fundie religious.

Additionally, the stringency of the application of "abortion laws" varies with economic status. The 16 year old whose parents can afford to send her off to a "health spa" for a two week stretch is much more likely to be able to obtain a safe abortion than is the 16 year old who is on welfare.

It mentions that in one of the links, that abortion laws disadvantages the poor.

75% of all abortions performed are done for women in the low wage worker class or for women who are living near , at or below the poverty line. The legislators who pass these anti-abortion laws know all the statistics concerning who is effected and how they are effected. The laws are aimed directly at forcing the poor to produce children. The same is true for laws restricting access to highly effective contraceptives that women control.

Hate to break it to you but the right-side has been conditioned (by media or whatever) to respond to each and every stated concern.

Here's a taste of what you'll see:

Conservative nationalists aren't concerned over this. Conversely, this would be a point of national individuality and pride.
Key Points:

Criminalising abortion does not stop abortions, it just makes abortion less safe

Pro-life take: Criminalizing murder does not stop all murders but it makes murdering less appealing.

Almost every death and injury from unsafe abortion is preventable

The common refrain: Preventable yes, by way of abstinence.

Access to safe abortion is a matter of human right

"What about the baby's right!". (Notice: Not a question.)

This is the only comment with any teeth. Most "lifers" will veil their partisanship behind pity/morality rhetoric. First and foremost, abortion rights are (reduced to) simply a liberal political policy... while as such, they'll justify their opposition any way possible.

First and foremost WOMEN support abortion, it is just a fact that Liberals tend to be more supportive of women than Conservatives are.
