Clinton was Rhodes Scholar, Obama graduated top of his class, Jimmy Carter graduated near the top of his class.
How many redneck gun owners are democrat?
Just a few months ago, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann’s appointment to the intelligence committee drew mild resistance and private snickering from her Republican colleagues. Now, it’s becoming a central part of the narrative behind a presidential campaign that is quickly gaining steam.
At Monday’s Republican presidential debate, Bachmann flexed her newfound national security credentials: She told the nation that Defense Secretary Robert Gates had been unable to identify a vital national security interest in Libya, and she discussed reports that the Al Qaeda branch in North Africa might be coordinating with the Libyan rebels. In doing so, she demonstrated a facility with national security issues that comes with regular access to high-level secrets.
It was, quite simply, a different Michele Bachmann who emerged on stage at St. Anselm’s College in New Hampshire — a nuanced, focused and polished politician rather than the one-dimensional firebrand she’s been caricatured as in the past. If she is to make a serious run at the presidential nomination, Monday’s debate might be the turning point that gave the GOP establishment a reason to give her a second look.
Bachmann is following a well-worn path for lawmakers who hope to become prominent national political figures. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi served on the intelligence committee, and then-Sen. Hillary Clinton, previously known best for her work on domestic issues, sought a seat on the Armed Services Committee two years into her first term. Now, Clinton is the nation’s top diplomat as President Barack Obama’s secretary of state.
Bachmann’s aspiration for higher office has been an open secret on Capitol Hill for quite some time. And while many viewed her choice of intelligence over a seat on the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee as a sign she might run for president, those close to her say there’s a strategy behind her interest in intelligence.
No son, there hasn't been a GOP President who could be called an intellectual since.... well 30 years.
Clinton was Rhodes Scholar, Obama graduated top of his class, Jimmy Carter graduated near the top of his class.
Reagan never made it past a BA, Bush Sr got a BA in economics, Bush Jr got a degree in history...
Again, as I've stated many times, the right doesn't have an intellectual leader to save its soul. Mostly bumpkins who barely make it through school and get by based on popularity.
The right wing in this country and many others survives based on the support of farmers and country folks. Don't like it? Take it up with Nixon. The last intellectual in the GOP. He decided to try something called "The Southern Strategy".
I will vote for ABM (Anyone But the Marxist).Who else is running?
Its almost like the GOP want Obama to win.
Historians have got to be one of the most boring of intellectuals. I'd almost rather an art person and both produce an interesting intellectual very very rarely.
Obama would crush Bachmann.. I have seen polls in her home state where she would lose to Obama by 20 points lol. If people in her own state cant stand her, then I doubt the rest of the country will either.
Just because they are losing money, doesn't mean they are not profitable...
Oh, so they want get on welfare because they lost their job, they'll get on welfare voluntarily? That's an awesome future to look forward too. Can't wait!!
My goodness if they go on that? Michelle Duggar should be our 1st Female Prez.:2razz:
JimBob would never allow that though as he must be King at all times.

Really digs? I think your under evaluating Obama.
WOW!!! That's got to be an Obama supporter!!
Are there more poorly informed people anywhere in the free world than the pitiful Obamaniacs?
All the Presidents you mentioned have been well educated, but it's well known that the supporters of the Democrats tend to be unhappy, earn less than Republicans and are poorly educated. And anyone who would claim Jimmy Carter is an intellectual could be used as evidence of that last fact.
Oh really? According to whom?
Yeah, rich people vote Republican. But is that any surprise? The GOP is practically owned by big business.
In terms of education, you're a bit off the mark. People who never went to college tend to vote Republican, and people who are post grads tend to vote Democrat. In terms of undergrad students, it depends on how you ask the question. But having an undergrad degree these days is almost like having a HS diplomna in the 60's.

You'd be unhappy too if you lived in the age of trying to move back to the 1800's.
No, I am just somebody who has a graduate degree in economics and works for a major investment bank...
Well if you're an American that partially explains why American banks are having so many problems and the housing market is in such a mess. It must be your job to explain that the billions in bank losses are really profits, huh?
I should be able to decipher the difference between short term losses and long term profitability.
Yes, if you had any experience in economics or banking you could.
If the American people had a stronger grasp of economics, they wouldn't have stood by and watched our government lead us into this recession.
Weren't the banks involved in this at all?
If Americans knew more about economics, they be demanding the end of both parties in this country and actually focusing on the long term stability of the country.
And you're an American??
I have seen statics that say Christians have lower IQs,
I have even seen polls that compare Christian IQs to those of atheists, and they say atheists have higher IQs...
a lot of Socialists are well educated in philosophy and theories, and a lot of Communist Socialists also happen to be atheist.
But then again, I kind of don't trust those polls about the parties and whose voters are more intelligent anyway. I have seen polls that suggest GOP voters are really uneducated and ignorant as well as those suggesting the same about Democrats. People don't tend to vote the same way their entire lives either..
Sorry, Grant... but this is probably going to piss you off, but I do remember that Obama was well know for getting the college vote.
Any college town or city was securely his, and I have also heard the same thing about people who are post grads. And most of the lawyers and doctors I know who vote republican are older... baby boomer generation, whereas the younger lawyers and doctors seem to be independent, moderate, or more Democrat than the older generation.
LOL. I was thinking that exact same thing.WOW!!! That's got to be an Obama supporter!!
Are there more poorly informed people anywhere in the free world than the pitiful Obamaniacs?
Proof positive, perhaps, that there is more to having a brain, than just having a degree. The scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz notwithstanding...No, I am just somebody who has a graduate degree in economics and works for a major investment bank...
