Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has agreed to deploy 10,000 national guard troops to block drug trafficking at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Mexico has agreed to deploy 10,000 troops to the U.S.-Mexico border in exchange for a one-month delay on President Donald Trump's threatened tariffs, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said Monday.

Sheinbaum made the announcement on social media Monday morning, roughly 12 hours before the tariffs were set to take effect. Trump and Sheinbaum spoke on Monday and agreed that Mexico will do more to combat drug trafficking into the U.S., and that the U.S. will step up efforts to block the flow of firearms into Mexico.

Sheinbaum also said officials with the U.S. and Mexico were beginning talks on wider trade and security issues.

Trump won again. I am not too sure my heart can take after all this winning. It is getting ridiculous that one man can do all this and protect Americans from crime and extortion by other countries as well as within our own government.
 
Gee, rather early to be declaring “victory” given those troops could easily be used to defend Mexico against raids across the border by American forces, after all.

“The people we are threatening sent ten thousand troops to the border” being called a “win” is throughly hilarious.
 
What exactly did he win? He started a trade war and now he's pausing it?

So Mexico actually agrees to combat illegal immigration and drug flow and uphold both our laws and also their own. Id say it was a win, but the bigger question that has to be asked is why does it take tariffs to get those corrupt pieces of shit to actually enforce their own laws.
 
Trump got his ego stroked, but this will do little for fentanyl since most of that isn't smuggled over the boarder.

It's a meaningless gesture that will do nothing in the end, but that's what MAGA commies like.
 

10,000 Mexican troops have the fighting capacity of a company of Marines, so we'll send a battalion.

And 10,000 men get to go camping for a week or two and pretend to do something if they actually get deployed at all.

Again, Trump doesn’t need to win anything, they just need to pretend he has.

The main way it gets in is through vehicles driven by US citizens, so we'll see how effective these troops are. I figured if there were any placating it might be something more symbolic than logistically sound. We'll see how the broader negotiations go and what comes out of them.

liberals and Democrats will hate today and the deal USA and Mexico is making

it will reduce illegal crossing greatly - drug and human trafficking will decrease bigly - Democrats DO NOT WANT either of those to happen. If they did, they'd have demanded Biden do it and they'd support Trump doing it
