We should never militantly obsess over race to such a level of absolute hysteria that any and every issue can be race-baited into a controversy, which is what is happening here. Americans are right to wonder if this is another attempt to shove Mexico down our throats. It happens non-stop.
So treating people with respect and kindness is a "pc agenda"? That's just fabulous.
Behaving in a mature and educated fashion is a "pc agenda"? Wonderful.
I also wonder why you ONLY mention CNN? Fox affiliates are reporting on this too.

Oops....guess you missed that .....

If you don't think this is about racism you are obviously fooling yourself.
This isn't some "agenda" manufactured out of thin air to promote a political platform.
This is about some seriously ignorant Americans making pathetically stupid comments about a young American boy who was singing the National Anthem at an NBA playoff game.
Hopefully it'll educate the dull and dimwitted morons who think that all non-white people must be lazy "criminals" who are "invading our country".
Maybe now that some FACTS are printed about this fine young man and his family the jack-off racists will think before they type?
Maybe some people have now learned that a "brown kid" can be just as American as a non-brown kid?
Sometimes it takes a lot to educate the ignorant.
Maybe some news stories about it can help?
Certainly the backlash regarding those moronic responses has been quite strong and supportive of the kid.
And I love that the Spurs brought him back for another performance.
What I find my especially unnerving about these posters is that they are black and they are happy to perpetuate the stereotypes about their own race in their comments.
They feel free to exercise their first amendment right in making ignorant, racist statements, yet they balk when we exercise our's by pointing out how their comments are offensive.
It's quite simple really.
The person attacked was a child. An American child.
So that makes it a news story.
It exposes the underlying racist hatred that's still very prevalent in our society in a way that some people view as quite shocking.
The kid didn't commit a crime. He wasn't spoofing the anthem. He didn't screw it up. He wasn't making fun of it.
He wasn't disrespecting the country or the anthem.
He sang it wonderfully and respectfully and there were still people who reacted with blatant hatred and ignorance towards him.
And as long as people just let stuff like that go, without calling attention to it, can you really expect things to get better?
Or maybe, just maybe, the backlash regarding this will force some people to shut the F up and not be so openly stupid.
It is quite interesting to read some of the apologist posts, the attempts to spin this as liberals stirring up race tension.
I do hope the next time a few liberals spout crazy crap the same 'conservatives' remember they are but a few of the over 300 million citizens we have in this country and not try to claim ALL liberals think the same way
It is also interesting to see 'conservatives' think it is natural and logical to see the bad side of pride in Heritage. If the child had been wearing a Native American styled custom, or a redheaded girl in her Dublin best, would the first thought be massacres and IRA killings? There is an odd colony of German decent folks in Texas, one of the few south of the Mason-Dixon line, if the boy was dressed in lederhosen would the thought be about Nazis?
fact is there are far more legal Hispanics in this country than illegals. Hispanic is the new W.O.P. and there is no ocean to help with ethnic based restrictions like the 1920's.
Just saw the morning news, the boy sang at the ball game again last nite, got huge cheers. THAT is a good take-a-way form this.eace
I totally disagree. We're talking about a few knuckleheads here not something "very prevalent". What they tweeted was ridiculously stupid and bigoted but let's face it, what were there... 4 people and maybe 10 total tweets? There's probably more bigoted comments than that on this site every day.
I will give you a prime example of the media bias and its selected outrage
Bill Maher again calls Sarah Palin's son Trig who has down syndrome a retard, Did CNN run a story and call Maher out for doing so. Did they ostracize him for his vile remarks all for a cheap laugh at the expense of a child that has no voice of his own to defend himself, Does CNN not care about the bigoted attacks on the mentally disabled in this country. Maher has a show on HBO his vile attacks reach millions. A hell of alot more then those few nobodies on tweeter that CNN thought it was news worthy enough to run So tell me what is the difference in what Maher did and those few asshats on tweeter did other then then what Maher did was much more disgusting and hateful and his voice reaches millions compared to those few on tweeter. I will tell you the difference Sarah Palin is on the right which makes it perfectly acceptable to ignore the sickning remarks made by anyone on the left so tell me what is more news worthy that some nobodies on tweeter questioning the nationality of some kid singing the national anthem, or A person whose voice reaches million making vile disgusting remarks about a special needs child that his only crime is being the son of a mother the left hates?
So get off your dam high horse and do some house cleaning before you dare call some one else out

Conclusion: This is not a story, but rather a pathetic attempt to push the PC agenda and prop up their political and ideological beliefs, that instead of exposing the evils of hatred and racial intolerance, has only served to promote and foster more of it. Good job CNN.
No one ever said there isn't racism in this country. There is and there probably always will be. But that really isn't what we're talking about here, is it. We're talking about whether or not a few guys and a handful of bigoted tweets is a reflection of the general racial tone for the country. I say it isn't. I say if we've stripped racism out of our society to the point that we're now looking at this specific incident as some sort of national outrage then we must be making progress. So you think there's no problem with racism in this country then?

Gotta find a way to blame the liberals, huh?
If someone talks about one of your media bias rants without "addressing what was said" you go ape****. So I challenge you to the same standard. Credit though for at least trying instead of aquapub's saying it was all black democratic voters who made those comments.
Apparently, this was covered on Fox also. Guess you missed that. Maybe when the MRC covers it, you'll find your outrage...
That's a great example of selective outrage. You're outraged because one person said something mean about your Messiah, but not about "some nobodies on tweeter."
These comments are perfectly acceptable to you, as long as they're not directed at a Conservative political figure.
the hypocrisy on the left is so vile and blatant it makes me want to vomit
the hypocrisy on the left is so vile and blatant it makes me want to vomit
Who is it exactly that brought politics into a thread that really has nothing to do with politics at all?
Who threw the first "political card" here, and who keeps harping back to "this is just a political (read lefty/liberal) attempt to ram an agenda down our collective throats"?
if it wasn't political CNN would also run stories about the attacks made by those on the left
That's because it didn't happen. I've been searching and searching for the offending skit and this is the best (or worst) I could come up with:Bill Maher again calls Sarah Palin's son Trig who has down syndrome a retard, Did CNN run a story and call Maher out for doing so.

He jokes that Sarah Palin is the "leader of a strange family of inbred weirdoes, straight out of The Hills Have Eyes". Where's the reference to Trig being a retard, twtfr? I'm sure if you had been able to support your accusation with evidence, you would have done.
Sarah Palin perceiving an insult is not news. It is par for the course.
