Will his Socialist coalition partners agree to spending the money to make this happen? Seems unlikely.

Herr Merz is looking more and more as cut out of the same strong man mould as Putin, Xi, Erdogan. I think he will build a powerful German Army.

I agree. While keeping in mind that what Merz will be doing is making the German Army powerful. Again, if I may add. I have no problem with that. But there is also the question of the EU Army. Should emphasis be on a powerful EU Army or powerful individual Armies?

Ideally both but an EU army cuts out Turkey and other nations that would otherwise contribute. Powerful individual armies with a lot of cooperation with other nations would be the best solution where possible.

then he will have learned nothing from Germany's militarlisation in the first half of the 20th century, same for London, militarlisation ended the British Empire and it's role as the number 1 power in the globe
