I suspect it's less actual mental illness and more a case of liberals who have problems whining about their "mental health" and conservatives who have problems identifying the cause and fixing said problems (or at least not whining about it as much).Is it any wonder liberals are having a mental health crisis?

People who have lower self efficacy and lower self esteem tend to have greater anxiety, neediness, and feelings of vulnerability, and are drawn toward external solutions that they believe may provide peace of mind.
There are other personality differences as well. For example, people with more openness (enjoy new experiences/ persectives/ideas) trend left, and people who are more conscientious (organized, responsible, goal-oriented) trend right.

The irony here is the head of the "conservative" party is himself not exactly the poster child for good mental health..It isn’t even Fox’s data.

It just demonstrates how a segment of our population is reticent to even admit they might have some mental health issues.
Andhere in reality - most people do at some point in time or another.
Pretending otherwise is akin to pretending one never has any health issues. It is just - frankly - either denial or ignorance.
It's interesting how people deny this as if their own eyes lie to them. Take a look around, do liberals strike you as well adjusted?
