Men Overran a Job Fair for Women in Tech

The Grace Hopper Celebration is meant to unite women in tech. This year droves of men came looking for jobs.

It was meant to be a week for women in tech—but this year’s Grace Hopper Celebration was swamped by men who gate-crashed the event in search of lucrative tech jobs.
The annual conference and career fair aimed at women and non-binary tech workers, which takes its name from a pioneering computer scientist, took place last week in Orlando, Florida.

This year, droves of men showed up with résumés in hand. AnitaB.org, the nonprofit that runs the conference, said there was “an increase in participation of self-identifying males” at this year’s event. The nonprofit says it believes allyship from men is important and noted it cannot ban men from attending due to federal nondiscrimination protections in the US.

I find it funny that people who swallow up Fox and Newsmax hosts find Maddow such a 'unfair' source. She definitely has a bias, which I guess suits her audience, but on average I don't think her bias is any worse than key hosts that have commanded the right. Carlson, Hannity, Ingraham etc. Horribly partisan views and of course just outright lies. I guess when Maddow loses $787M (and counting) in a defamation case proving that she lies badly we can reassess.
 
I guess its been so long you forgot about the Russian collusion story she drummed for nearly two years.

No, I'm not. I have 3 nieces and 1 nephew. My nieces are excelling in their educations and my nephew was recently discharged from the Navy. The fact is that 60% of college graduates are women these days. If this was an event for women, the guys should not have shown up trying to disrupt it. I don't have a "good ole boy" attitude where women are inferior and men should try to push them out of every opportunity.
 
I would blacklist every guy that did that.

No, but she didn't invent that or knowingly fake the evidence as far as I can recall. The hosts job is to report, but not knowingly create the claims. If she did in fact deliberately lie about the Russian case, someone should take her to court. Personally I am really keen to see these types of claims tested in a court room regardless of which side of the political fence they sit on. Others will argue that taking court action will suppress freedom of speech, but I would rather have a focus on truth and accountability.
 
My company recruits at the Grace Hopper convention every year. We get a lot of good employees from that.

Women dont seem to be bothered that men are taking their places in sports, why should they be bothered that they would take their places at work?
