There is a measles outbreak in Ohio. Of the 64 reported cases, 61 ere totally unvaccinated and the other three had been given only one of the series of two shots. In 10% of the cases the children had to be hospitalized. Measles is one of the very contagious diseases. It can remain live in the air for more than two hours after a sneeze or a cough. Doctors are telling people to get vaccinated, but we know how that goes.

Ohio has become one of the most backward places in the US imo. The state government is just LAUGHABLE, the legislature is anyway, (think Gym Jordan), DeWine is pretty laughable too when it comes to abortion and some other things, but also isnt quite as big a nut job as some of the others. But he still signed a law to allow every dumb**** to carry guns with no license or training. And a "heartbeat bill" (which didnt stand up in court). So as I said, he's still pretty laughable.

I just looked it up a while ago, in my county in 2020 voters went 38% for Biden and 61% Trumptard....LOL. Thats how full of ignorant hicks my county is. I realize it but theres things I like about it too. But not the people. I've lived in large cities like LA and Tokyo, Atlanta, others, but a lot of these hayseeds around here have never known anything else.
So....in Ohio I am not surprised about the vaccination thing.

Amen. Ohio is the Alabama of the North.

The solution is to require vaccination records in order to attend school or work onsite. If I hadn't provided my records, I would not have been allowed to attend grad school. I provided my records and took a TB test instead of being an anti-vax CT woo woo idiot. I have been an idiot at some points in my life, but that was not one of them.

DeWine did well during pandemic IMO - one of the first ones to close up and one of the later ones to open up.

He is certainly far better than DeathSantis and Abbott and a lot of other R governors.

But the State as a whole... yeah... a lot more traitor R's than it used to be.

Not really true.
The rural parts are, but unlike Alabama, the whole state is not rural.

Percentage of rural population is very different. However according to US Census 2010, the most rural states are Maine and Vermont.

What is going-on here?

Measles vax is for life. Aren't the getting the panel for school? When kids?

We beat Measles a long time ago . . .

Measles vax has been a standard in the school vax panel for kids, as long as I can remember - since I was a kid. I can't believe there are places that slip through the cracks. It's pretty much 100% here.

Says 61 are totally unvaxed.

Hard to believe. Measles vax is mandatory for school just about everywhere, I thought. It certainly is in my state.

Someone is going to have to look into this to see how these individuals fell through the cracks. Where they home-schooled by neglectful parents? What happened?

Home schoolers perhaps.

Apparently you have not been listening to the antivaxxers. In some states there are many reasons for allowing those who choose not to vaccinate still be able to have their children to attend school.

The more isolated people are, the more intolerant they are of others.

And none of those many reasons take others into consideration.

Enter stage right... Republicans crying about vaccinations, begging to send Fauci to jail.

If they thought masking, vaccine mandates, and lockdowns for COVID were bad, wait until schoolchildren start breaking out in grotesque rashes and get sent to the ICU. Won't be long before people start demanding we go back to those protocols.

It has, and it didn't used to be this way. But the collapse of good paying, unionized industrial jobs has changed the state and not for the better.

I think parents have the right to refuse these vaccines for their children. Until now, such parents have been few, so herd immunity has kept these viruses at bay. But most of the younger parents today have grown up in an era in which no one really knows or has even heard of these diseases- so more and more are refusing them. These vaccines have become victims of their own overwhelming success.

So combine that with the recent anti-Covid vaccination campaigns and skepticism, and you can see why outbreaks like this, which we have not seen in decades, are now starting to pop up.

Yes, but the vax's are required for school for the kids, at least in my state. That's what has me confused.
