May an old biblical text appear on the newly rebuilt City Palace in Berlin?
That is a controversy in Berlin and in Germany in general just now.
And it may be a fundamental question in general, too.
Not so much a religious question, but a political question.

The announcement by the Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth (Greens) to cover up the Bible inscription on the dome of the replica Berlin City Palace with a “temporary fade” was met with protests from the Union in the Bundestag. Roth “apparently didn’t understand the inscription at all,” wrote the deputy chairwoman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group Dorothee Bär (CSU) in a statement. “If she lets them cover up now, she completely disqualifies herself from her position.”

Now I am interested in your opinion. :)

I'd need a working knowledge of the German constitution to have an opinion, no?

An excellent example of Prussian Baroque architecture. The Prussians being famous for their artistic creativity.

I think this question is not only of concern to Berlin alone.

Protest over plans to obscure Berlin Palace Bible quote

‘Under heaven, no other name is given but that of Jesus, before whom every knee will bow’

That now is the line, that Berliners should not see at night:

‘Under heaven, no other name is given but that of Jesus, before whom every knee will bow’

What Wiki says:

The Berlin Palace, also incorrectly known as the City Palace (German: Stadtschloss),[3] is a building in the centre of Berlin, located on the Museum Island at Schlossplatz opposite the Lustgarten park. From the 15th century to the early 20th century, the Berliner Schloss was a royal and imperial palace that mostly served as the main residence for the Electors of Brandenburg, the Kings of Prussia, and the German Emperors.[4] Damaged during World War II and later demolished by the East German government in the 1950s, the palace has been partially rebuilt and was completed in 2020. The reconstructed palace is the seat of the Humboldt Forum, a museum for world culture which is a successor museum of the Ancient Prussian Art Chamber, which was also located in the Berlin Palace during the 19th Century. The Humboldt Forum has been described as the German equivalent of the British Museum.

That, what ever she maybe, person needs to be fired, Canceled for Culture.

More about Claudia Roth:

Roth has been criticized for her positive relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Along with fellow lawmakers Günter Gloser, Monika Grütters, Luc Jochimsen and Peter Gauweiler, she travelled to Iran in 2010 to meet with Ali Larijani, Manouchehr Mottaki and others; the trip was heavily criticized by international human rights organizations.[18] In February 2013, she was reprimanded by German media outlets and Iranian dissidents for warmly greeting the Iranian ambassador to Germany, Alireza Sheikhattar, with a high five; Iranian Kurdish dissidents hold Sheikhattar responsible for the murder of Kurds during his tenure as governor of Iran's Kurdistan and West Azerbaijan provinces from 1980 to 1985.[19]

In 2015, Roth again led a German parliamentary delegation for a five-day visit to Tehran, including meetings with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, Deputy Speaker Mohammad-Hassan Aboutorabi Fard, Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi, presidential candidate Mohammad Reza Aref as well as two of President Hassan Rouhani's deputies namely Shahindokht Molaverdi, the vice president for women's affairs, and Masoumeh Ebtekar,[20] the vice president and chairwoman of the Department of Environment;[21] she was, however, denied a meeting with human-rights activist Narges Mohammadi.

Criticism of the eviction of the Christian symbol

The parliamentary manager of the Union faction, Thorsten Frei (CDU), criticized the television channel “Welt” that the federal government was “tradition and history forgotten”. Anyone who has symbols of the Christian faith removed from a meeting room is not cosmopolitan, but obstinate.

The diocese of Münster described the measure in a statement as “incomprehensible”. Traditions and symbols associated with them, which are an expression of values, attitudes and religious convictions, cannot simply be “hanged out”.

Those guys who prepped that room probably do not understand the historic importance of this room, for which it was chosen. They were just stupidly over political correct, or one of those folks has a childish problem with Christian symbols.
Japan does not have a Christian culture, so maybe the Kindergarten thought it would offend.
Its a show of insecurity, lack of historical knowledge and understanding.
As you know talking snakes and stuff like that are not my thing. But then I understand it is part of our historical culture and a piece of wood, iron or brass does not offend me. I would probably take a close look and admire the workmanship. That cross is exquisite workmanship, as the rest of the ensemble, we should pe proud of it, not hide it.
Remember when France and Germany signed the new Friendship Contract, it was signed in Aachen, Karl der Grosse' Capital, which is now in Germany. When once a very long time France and Germany were one country. Just think they would have moved symbols out of the Crowning Hall, because somebody in attendance might have been offended.
To me this is all Kindergarten and a show of insecurity

I wonder whether there will be any consequences.
As it seems, Foreign Minister Analena Baerbock is "not amused" about the removal of the cross.

I do not think that there will be any serious consequences. The prep team will get new guidelines and maybe the head of the team will be promoted to a new job in "Alaska".
We have to get used to Kindergarten like this, as long as SPD and Gruene are the strong parties in government. Roth did not get canceled, despite the Documenta. It encouraged her to start this new Kindergarten project. She should have been fired for the Documenta. But she is so entrenched in the left wing of the SPD, that she is untouchable, she is so to speak the leader of the left liberals.
The Gruene are a lot more pragmatic. We know that since Fischer and so on, they understand what the power of government means.
They always surprise me in a positive way, when in government, from local, to state to federal.

So it is.
2 examples: Boris Palmer and Annalena Baerbock.
Both are green, but have common sense!

The last case:

To remove a historic cross from a historic room (so that the Japanese are not offended?) is too stupid for words!

I am not really convinced by Baerbock. I think she likes to be on stage, showing of, "Sternchen".
I take the Malocher, like Habeck and yes Boris

and yes Boris
Three cheers for Boris! For Boris Erasmus Palmer! Thrice Lord Mayor of Tübingen in Swabia! (y)(y)(y)

Boris Erasmus Palmer (born 28 May 1972) is a German politician and former member of the Green Party. He has been mayor of Tübingen since January 2007. From March 2001 to May 2007, he was a member of the Baden-Württemberg Landtag, the State parliament in Stuttgart.

Palmer's controversial positions have cost him the support of his party in the 2020 municipal elections, and a process to oust him from party ranks was started the following year.

and:

On 15 November 2021, the state executive of the Green Party of Baden-Württemberg officially applied for Palmer's expulsion from the party.[11]

After being dismissed from the Green Party, Boris Palmer ran the 2022 Tübingen Mayor Election as an independent candidate. He won the election with a clear majority by securing 52 % of votes.

Btw: Boris Palmer is still a member of the Green Party. It's only that his membership is "sleeping", as the technical term goes.
But after his great victory in the Tübingen Mayor Election the Green Party wants to awake his membership again now.

I am not really convinced by Baerbock. I think she likes to be on stage, showing of, "Sternchen".
Sweet sweet Annalena pleads innocence: :)

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock came under fire Friday over the removal of a 482-year-old crucifix from the venue for a G7 meeting in the German city of Münster.
The Federal Foreign Office had the historic wooden crucifix removed from the conference venue in Münster as part of a larger redesign of the city’s town hall, a ministry spokesman said on Friday in Berlin. Baerbock, from the Greens, was not involved with the issue, he said.

“It was not a conscious decision, certainly not a political decision, but obviously an organizational decision,” Baerbock commented Friday after meeting with her G7 colleagues. “I would have liked it if we hadn’t put it away.”

Only as stupid as not removing it so (a few) Christians are not offended.
