It doesn't spell out how this will directly affect their Indiana plant, but this is not good news for that plant, they basically said no comment.

The article also touches on how other companies have started lay offs due to the tariffs.

Tariff wars are easy to win, right?

Oops.

This is the bit that sucks for American car buyers that they're not aware of yet: Americans will pay tariffs on cars that are imported and domestically assembled (due to tariffs on steel, aluminum and parts).

The rest of the world including Canada gets to buy tariff free cars as long as they're not American.

Oopsie.

We traded for a new car before the tariff. Win.

Gosh, does that mean that other brands of cars will be less expensive than their American made counterparts?
Wouldn't that cause a sales slump for those brands?

This is fascinating since Subaru sells roughly 10x as many vehicles in the United States versus Canada. Their vehicles are broadly popular in northern states and Canada for the obvious reasons, but their sales volume has exploded in Canada in recent years in terms of YoY growth so perhaps that is an influencing factor.

Sounds like Japan calling Trumps bluff.

This is clearly TDS misinformation, since everyone knows Dear Leader promised to bring manufacturing jobs and factories back to 'Murica. And all nations line up to kiss hiss ass - why would Dear Leader say it until it were the gospel truth?

Sit down son, I have some bad news.

So...according to the article, this move isn't because of Trump's tariffs, but because of the counter-attack by Canada.

It would have been better for everyone if Canada had just complied with Trump's requests about drugs and illegal aliens.

It would be better for everyone if Donald resigned the presidency and spent his final days eating KFC and chasing Ivanka.

It would be better for MAGAs to reclaim their brains and balls and stopped worshipping such a shit human being.

Golly gee willikers ....you're right!

Just think, if Canada hadn't had a reason to retaliate this might never had happened! Shazam!

Give this man a cigar!!

You do know the term "counter attack" applies to an action taken in retaliation for an action taken previously?

I bet you knew that when you picked out that term.

You know what counter battery fire is?

It's when Duracell and Ray-O-Vav get drunk and set their bar on fire.

Bet you didn't know that, did ya?

You know how you empty whiz out of a boot?
It's easy, the instructions are written on the heel.

The Subaru Outback is currently manufactured in two locations: Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA) in Lafayette, Indiana, and the Yajima Plant in Japan. The SIA plant produces Outbacks for the American market, while the Yajima Plant in Japan also produces them for the global market.
The company sold over 17,700 American-built vehicles in Canada last year, making up 26 percent of its 2024 sales. But the Japanese automaker’s Canadian division will slash US imports to just 10 percent by the 2026 model year, representing 15,900 units. Subaru sell a million vehicles a year with 45% made in the USA. They already have a Japan plant, so it's no big deal to re-source 16,000 cars from Japan instead of the USA.

So that's a production cut for the Indiana plant. Winning.

They DON'T have a reason to retaliate. They should just cooperate with the US and everything will be fine.

The spin. Try this.

How naive are you? Never mind, rhetorical question.

Really? Can you refer us to any report dealing with Canada’s participation in the drug trade and Canadians entering the US illegally?

What is Trump’s logic with respect to tariffs? Seems he gave examples of US prosperity in the 1890s or so, a time we can’t duplicate. Why this obsession? Does he really think that recent economic and trade history will be reversed? Is he ready to pay big time once again to US farmers hurt by his actions?

They did.

Trudeau pledged that in addition to the C$1.3 billion border security plan it announced back in December, Canada will appoint its first-ever “fentanyl czar,” and expand its Criminal Code to list drug cartels as terrorists, ensure “24/7 eyes on the border,” and launch a bilateral joint strike force to combat organized crime, fentanyl and money laundering.

They DON'T have a reason to retaliate. They should just cooperate with the US and everything will be fine.
If someone punches you, you don’t think you should punch back instead of sitting there like a beta cuck?

Maybe using maga terminology will help explain it.

Lol, you actually believe this, don't you?

Lol.
