Mask mandates will be returning to several counties in California’s San Francisco Bay Area, starting next month.

The orders, which were handed down by individual counties, apply mainly to health care workers, although at least two Bay Area counties have extended the requirement to visitors and patients.

A similar mandate was handed down broadly across the Bay Area for the 2023–2024 fall-through-spring period.

Health officials in counties that have issued upcoming mask mandates said that the face coverings are designed to reduce the spread of COVID-19, influenza, and other respiratory viruses, harking back to the COVID-19 pandemic, during which mandates were widespread across much of the United States.

Same. There are certain areas of the hospital that are still mask mandatory. ICU/NICU and maternity are the most obvious.

Masks are requested to be worn here in NJ by anyone displaying flu or Covid like symptoms - at hospitals, doctor offices, care facilities, even walk in clinics and Urgent care centers.

You can’t get into the rehab facility my in laws were at without having your temp taken.

No one wants your germs. Wear a mask if you are sick and need to go out. Better yet, stay home and don’t get other people sick.

And for the love of all that is holy - if your kid is sick…keep them home and don’t send them to school.

I cannot stand people that walk around in public obviously sick and spreading germs or that send their sick kids to school.

How damn selfish and inconsiderate can people be.

I have to laugh at the ones that insist on sitting in the waiting room of an Urgent Care surrounded by hacking and coughing sick people not wearing a mask.

(Meanwhile, anytime I can, I’m opting to sit in my car and get a text when it’s our turn to go in. I don’t want people’s damn germs…I don’t care what variety they are.)

I don't mind the new norm since I was wearing masks pre-COVID (maybe just the asian cultural thing of "wear masks in public if you're feeling under the weather") and it was really weird even being in an urgent care waiting room with a mask. Now, the only ones not wearing masks in that same situation are the VySky types and, well, everyone chooses a seat as far away as possible from that sort of person.

IMO it should never ever ever become the norm again to stagger into work snotty, feverish, coughing "because it's my job." Stay the **** home, there's nothing noble in working and risking others. Or in employers expecting or demanding it.
