Gore can have his theory, but that is all it will be until and unless someone or a group of ppl prove his theory to be accurate.
Merely by stating that humans are solely to blame for Global warming and for this theory to be backed up by supposedly learned scientists, without any opposing views being addressed is really not the way to go.

Was that an attack? I thought it was just a gentle pointing out of error. As
jujuman13 himself was trying to say, if you are in error on one thing, we cannot trust your statements on other things.
 
Those who point to Mars as evidence that the current global warming trend on Earth is entirely natural never cease to make me laugh. As I pointed out in another thread, the atmosphere on Mars is 95.72% Carbon Dioxide. I've also pointed out the fact that the climate change on Mars is limited to it's South Pole. In otherwords, the warming on Mars is REGIONAL not global.

If it's not our fault, then we don't have any responsibility to do anything about it.
We don't have to change anything.

I understand the appeal, and I'm not saying my motivations are beyond reproach any more than anyone else's, but I'm more compelled by fear at this point than laziness. I want to make changes and see if we can't halt or at least slow down this impending global disaster. i'm ready to make changes, to make sacrifices. i want to.
And that's regardless of whether it's "our fault" or not, regardless of whether it will even help, in the long run.
It would make me feel better just to be doing something, taking some positive action.
Nothing makes me feel worse than all this sitting around second-guessing whether global warming is 1) really happening, and 2) our fault or the result of some factor beyond our control, and 3) reversible.

Let's just come up with a plan- encourage our legislators to come up with a plan- and for sh!t sake do something already.
 

That is absolutely correct, but I do have some pretty depressing news for you, as well as everybody else. There actually IS one type of global warming caused by the sun that nobody will be able to stop. Eventually, all life on the earth will cease due to global warming. Say your prayers now. Only about 700 million years to go until the end of all higher forms of life on earth.

Now how about you answer my question, why is it global warming if in MD, it's been colder in the winter( vs other winters) than in the past few years. Isn't MD a region? And since it's been colder here then usual, there is no warming here... so it's regional warming, no?
 

This winter has been rather anamolous not just because of the cold but also because of the WARMTH. One week we have apple trees in full blossom with a temperature of 80 degrees and the next week there's several feet of snow. In otherwords, the unusual jumps between warm and cold weather throughout this season. One interesting thing to note is the fact that we've seen more freezing rain than usual which indicates that on most days, the temperature is warmer than normal. Global Warming doesn't bring about the end of winter. There have been MANY noteable effects of Global Warming on wildlife in MD. So why is MD experiancing an unusually harsh winter? It could have alot to do with the rise in sea level.

Okay, so let me get this straight. Global warming causes the ice caps to melt which will make the sea level rise which will make there be a harsher winter? So, global warming makes there be harsher winters? I get it now! :roll:

The planet's temperature has fluctuated in the past many times. It's natural. We have to adapt not institute a socialist system to govern mankind.

Do you really think almost every phD on the planet somehow overlooked this simple fact? Do you tell your doctor how to put on a band-aid?

The only problem with that statement is that not every phD agrees with the theory of manmade global warming(climate change, other theoretical term), many, many, scientists feel that warming cycles currently are natural, and in fact, one of the original GW theorists has in fact, changed his mind(unfortunately, the name escapes me right now, will have to find it later.)
 
In the 70s, the environmentalists were telling us that a new ice age was eminent and that we only had a a few decades before iron, aluminum, oil, etc ran out.

Now we are being told that the Earth is heating up because of CO2 emissions. What a bunch of baloney.

Do you really think that scientists, who have trouble predicting the weather next week, can really predict climate change for the years to come? They simply do not know enough about the variables that impact climate change. Any scientist that says global warming is a certainty is a disgrace to his/her profession.

In college I got the chance to interact with some of the global climate models. There are many variables which impact the climate. Weather patterns, solar cycles, volcano eruptions, etc.

In the model you tweak the variables and make observations on the impact to the climate. According to current knowledge, solar cycles have the largest impact. For man-made emissions to have any type of impact, you would have to multiply their effect by thousands of percent.

Now I don't completely trust the climate models, but even with our current climate knowledge of today, you really have to stretch the limit to say that man in causing global warming.

Anyone who looks at the science of this issue without bias will come to the same conclusion I have.... there is not enough evidence to say that man has ANY significant impact on the global climate. You really have to question the true motives of all of these so-called scientists who say that man causes global warming. Because their motives have nothing to do with science.
