Man using racist slurs killed in Waffle House fight in Georgia, police say

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says a man was shot to death at a Waffle House after calling other patrons racist slurs and starting a fight.


Responding deputies found 27-year-old Nicholas Phinazee Bryan mortally wounded. An investigation determined that Bryan "was using racial slurs" toward 36-year-old Robert Lewis Henderson Jr. and 39-year-old Antonio DeMarty Evans. Waffle House staff told Bryan to leave. Then their argument became physical. Police say Henderson fired a single shot at Bryan, who later died at a hospital.

If I understand the article correctly ( there is a lack of detailed information), the deceased became verbally abusive, was asked to leave, then became physically abusive, prompting an armed individual to delete him from the gene pool in self defense.

Not really seeing the problem here.

Unfortunately suicide by mouth cannot be spontaneous.....reach a critical mass of racist stupidity and simply drop dead or burst into flames.

It sure is an unusual middle name, but people will sometime give a middle name to their child, usually the mother's maiden name. I happened to do a search of the name 'Phinazee' and found this:

History & Staff | Phinazee & Son Funeral Home - Waynesboro, GA

Of course the Phinazee family that owns the funeral home are obviously a Black family, so the shooter wasn't of that family. But, there's only 84 people in the country with the last name 'Phinazee' and all of them live in Georgia. My guess is that the Black side of the Phinazee family tree were descendants of slaves in Georgia, and the shooter, who is white is possible a descendant of their slave owner.

Do guys in Georgia still think it's 1950 or something? No, they can't shoot their mouths off with racial slurs and get away with that crap in 2019 as this guy sadly found out. It's a shame because I've seen a photo of the guy that was shot posing with his wife and little girl. Because of his racist hatred and big mouth, they're left without a husband and daddy.

Sure, anyone-anywhere can go shooting off their mouths calling people ugly names or cursing them out. But, people these days certainly have short fuses. Road rage, people being shot over a Popeye's chicken sandwich, drivers shot because they're driving too slow, etc. These days it's smarter to keep your mouth shut and suck it up whatever your gripe is because you run the risk of being shot if your go all Rambo on someone.

Must be more to this story ... the guy who shot was charged with murder ...

"... Henderson has been charged with one count of murder and one count of aggravated assault, while Evans was charged with tampering with evidence. ..."

True enough; and anyone that resorts to use of firearms for verbal slights, imagined or otherwise needs to be prosecuted fully.
 
Shouldn't there be a legal defense if it's done in defense against a hate crime? We need to protect people's feelings.

There is no legal defense for using a firearm or resorting to violence in the face of verbal attacks, and neither should there be.

If you resort to violence because of "hate speech", you have already lost any logical argument for self defense.
 
Give it time. When thing get "woke" enough, hate speech will justify violence.

Use violence the next time someone says something that offends you and submit it as a legal defense in a court of law....let me know how that works out for you.
