Make mine malaise - Washington Times

More than a few observers have pointed out that President Obama and the Democrats in Congress seem determined to repeat the errors of the 1970s by returning to inflationary spending, tax increases, auto company bailouts and cuts to the defense budget while coddling dictators who hate America.

So it was inevitable that this recycling effort would get around to attempting the most brazen rehabilitation of all: Jimmy Carter was a visionary president! If only we had listened to him.

It is just me, or are the comparisons between Dear Leader and Jimmy Carter increasing?

Not surprising from either the Washington Times or from Hayward himself. The adverse consequences of Reagan's Military Keynesianism are never noted.

Other unnoted events are appearances of unicorns in the street, the Tooth Fairy, Paul Bunyan and his ox Blue.

Think about it for a while, and I'm sure you can find the common thread between all of these unnoted events.

In the case of Paul Bunyan and his ox, I'd note the nature of their expansive size, which corresponds neatly with the similarly expansive nature of Reagan's Military Keynesianism.

Unsurprisingly, you have arrived at an incorrect conclusion.

The common thread is the mythical nature of all cited examples.

Actually, you only perceive it as such because of your ignorance of what Military Keynesianism entails, an element of an unfortunate information asymmetry that we both know exists, even if only one of us is willing to admit it. :2wave:

Information asymmetry. Let's see, that would be where people like myself read books, know history, and are well versed in Human nature, and conversely, the mentality of the common herd, yes?

Reagan was wrong. Reagan's entire administration was wrong, except on the parts that you agree with, if any. Ok, now that you feel all cuddly inside, can we get back on what the article was saying between Carter and Obama? What's your opinion on what the article has to say about it?

Of course not.

There was no Reaganesque "military" keynesianism.

Reagan's spending on the military was constitutional and not the cause of the deficit.

Clearly if one is going to lay blame for deficit spending on particular programs one HAS to view the illegal and unconstitutional programs as the cause of the deficit. At least, one has to do that if one is honest, which isn't a trait the socialists and historical revisionists possess.

Nope, the deficits under Reagan were caused by...(gasp! who'd a thought this?...) the damn Democrats in the House that agreed to cut spending in domestic areas to balance the needed increases in military spending and thus avoid a deficit. But, naturally, trusting a Democrat to be honest is like trusting a fish to not pee in your river.

I mean, look what's happening in Washington now? All that "wonderful Keynesian spending supercalifragilistic rainbow colored supersonic deficit spending", and not one single job created yet. Ain't Keynesianism just GRAND?

Naturally, expect to hear that what we're seeing isn't real Keynesianism, that won't show up until the jobless rate magically and mysteriously goes down.
