A far-right candidate for Congress in Texas known for her disturbing stunts shared a new campaign video Monday of her lighting a Quran on fire with a flamethrower, declaring America a “Christian nation” and demanding the expulsion of Muslims.

Valentina Gomez, a repeat book burner and previously failed GOP candidate who’s now running to represent Texas’ 31st Congressional District next year, posted the inflammatory video on X, which has limited the post’s visibility over concerns about hateful conduct.

“Your daughters will be raped and your sons beheaded unless we stop Islam once and for all,” Gomez, 26, says in the video before shooting flames onto a propped up copy of the Quran.

Where does she get these kinds of ideas from? Look in the mirror maga, this is you. Now tell us again how we on the left are the haters.

Politics aside, this is what NOT to do if you value your life.

"Stop Islam once and for all".

There are something like 1.9 billion muslims in the world. Then again, she's playing to the lowest of the low, sooo....I wouldn't be surprised if a whole bunch of MAGAs love the idea of "stopping" all those 1.9 billion human beings.

Well, to be fair… book burning is a very Christian thing—no surprise there. But what confuses me is this: if the U.S. is supposed to be a ‘Christian nation,’ then shouldn’t you expel all non-Christians… Buddhists, Shintoists, Jews? Wait—that sounds a lot like antisemitism, doesn’t it?

And actually, come to think of it, what kind of Christian nation are we talking about here? Catholic, Baptist, Presbyterian…? There are over 60,000 versions of Christianity. If the idea is to expel everyone who doesn’t match your version, that’s going to be a whole lot of expulsions.

She suggests the truth of that cynical statement, “the last Christian died on the cross.”

Her name is Gomez. How do we know she’s not an illegal alien rapist child molester pet eater?

She's not clowning about in a vacuum. A politician running for office doesn't say or do shit unless they think it will play well with the voters they are courting. So the bigger question is, unless this woman is a bona fide mental patient how are Texas voters in that district responding to her antics - with condemnation, silence, or vocal approval?

Okay but to be fair it is kind of hilarious that mass immigration from central and south America was supposed to be a Democrat ploy for votes (according to conservatives) and now years later those immigrants and their descendants turn out to all be radical Catholic conservatives who are far more zealous and hysterical than any WASP was.

Apparently Ms. Gomez has never read the 1st Amendment. MAGA politicians pay little attention to the constitution.
Morality, our founders, and our constitution: freedom of religion. Votes from pandering to religious hatred: what she is doing. She prefers the votes.

Disagree, but if you clarify you mean the bigoted movement who use the name, ok. And I'd also say Quran burning is not quite the same as "book burning". It's burning it as a symbol of the group knowing it greatly offends them, more than as a book like other books. It's like burning a picture of Mohammed.

Hey, Valentina, America IS NOT a Christian nation. As a matter of evidence of that statement, you should look in a mirror.

Valentina, get over your bad self, with the emphasis on "bad"

If you expelled all of the non-Christians, America would be largely empty. When expelling non-Christians, you can start with people MAGA wearing caps to evangelical churches. It is a bit of abomination. Such people may go to church, but they clearly are not paying attention.

Christianity has 3,500 denominations..... which means at least 1,750 times people got so PO'ed with their fellow Christians over some stupid interpretation of God's word that they felt compelled to go across the street to start another church. Odd, since Christianity was was founded on the idea of a unity from a brotherhood in Christ (we are all broken people that can be reconciled with God through Christ) could not find common ground on some pretty petty doctrinal issues. Quit sad, actually.

Why are people who are not Muslim more offended by burning a Quran that's just paper than they are a Bible or an American flag?

I don't understand how people can defend one and not the other.

Hope this helps: I believe that the concern comes from some folks having demonized Islam, a minority in the US, as opposed to the reaction of burning a flag as an act of protest. In addition, in a more or less majority Christian country that honors Christian holidays but was attacked by Islamic extremists, has a president who suggested banning all Muslims, who lied about refugees from a Muslim country, plus others who wanted to ban mosques, attacks on the Quran seem more disturbing. The double standard isn’t really fair, but understandable or defensible to some.

I think that is concern trolling
a minority in the US, as opposed to when they might burn a flag as an act of protest.
I I think it's equally acceptable to protest Islam. They're minority status in the country means absolutely nothing

You get to protest Islam sorry. It's not a special thing that's above criticism.

Of course it’s acceptable to protest Islam. Stuff to complain about given certain practices on certain things in certain places. But the fact that they are a minority that has been attacked by the president makes it different than say, protesting Catholicism per se due to the actions of some priests. Few are doing that. The Catholic wing of the IRA was the more radical part of that group, as I understood things. But no one in Britain suggested banning all Catholics to my knowledge. To use a perhaps far-fetched analogy, the n-word is a more vicious insult than honky.

Including burning a Quran and saying they should be banned from the country right?
Stuff to complain about given certain practices on certain things in certain places.
Or just objecting to the thing as a whole because it is the sum of its parts.
But the fact that they are a minority that has been attacked by the president makes it different than say, protesting Catholicism per se due to the actions of some priests.
How does it make it different than that how many people of a certain variety need to be here before you can protest something they believe in?
Few are doing that. The Catholic wing of the IRA was the more radical part of that group, as I understood things. But no one in Britain suggested banning all Catholics to my knowledge.
So?
To use a perhaps far-fetched analogy, the n-word is a more vicious insult than honky.
Only to the feeble and pathetic. If you're insulted by words you are weak. If you are a threatened by someone burning a book that they purchased you are pathetic.

America is not supposed to be Christian nation. Read the 1st Amendment. While some (So called Christians) think it should be, they're wrong.

The whole reason we fled England and fought a war was to get away from religion.
