Lt. Gov. says DeSantis will send migrants to Delaware, but does that include Cubans?

‘This is going to be worse than Mariel,’ Nuñez says

Florida Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez said the administration of Gov. Ron DeSantis will send migrants who arrive to Florida illegally to Delaware.

Nuñez’s comments on WURN, “Actualidad 1040,” drew a strong rebuke from the two Democrats seeking to oust DeSantis in November.

But a spokesperson for the Governor’s campaign later said Cubans coming to South Florida would be exempt.

After being asked about the historic wave of Cuban migration to South Florida, Nuñez said, in part: “That’s why the governor has worked with the legislature, to secure funding to make sure…that people that are coming illegally…that they don’t stay here with their arms crossed, thinking about what they will be able to do. We are going to send that person, frankly, to Delaware, the president’s home state.”
Good, there should be no reason why Delaware would be unwilling to do its fair share in caring for the immigrant population.

I wonder if the Floridictator might be a sociopath like the mad orange king. It's sad that people like that make it so far in business and government. A conscience shouldn't be a hindrance to success.

What state will he get the migrants from?

What state will he get the migrants from?
As many as needed.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
The more cynical side of me thinks there is a longer game too. When you get an I737 it gives you the date, time and location you need to appear to finalize or move to the next step in the process of getting Asylum. If you miss that date, in the correct court, you can be deported.
So if you are due in the court in Florida on Jan 15, 2023 and you are in Delaware, it might be hard for you to get there on time. Poof, now your standing is in danger.

It's interesting that she says "worse than Mariel." With the exception of the criminal elements selected by the Castro regime, the Mariel Boatlift was a good thing for Florida's economy.

Also I'm not sure that shitting on Cuban and Venezuelan refugees will work out well, but they know Florida's politics better than I do.

Why? FLorida is not a boarder state. Any of the nutters realize this?

Will DeDouche have the decency to tell these States in advance?

It's interesting that Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott complain about the burden of immigrants in their states, even as they brag about the truly-praiseworthy economic growth and population growth in their states. Immigration is a big part of the reason that Florida and Texas are desirable places to live!

Send some of your tired, poor huddled masses up here to Cambridge and Boston if you don't want them. (With the caveat that the immigrants have to actually want to come here. No tricking them onto a plane and then dumping them.)

Yup, walk it like we talk it up here in the North East.
Sorry It isn't that the people pending asylum or here as refugees are not wanted here, it is the way there were tricked into coming here.

"The cruelty is the point" is not simply a neologism. It is a defining principle of the Trump Movement. Any politician with national ambitions in the Republican Party has to cater to that constituency. That means being deliberately cruel toward a group that constituency hates; in this case immigrants and liberals. Simple cruelty with no other utility. DeSantis understands this. The darkly comical thing is he had to come to Texas to find victims.

Why? Is there some practical reason why states might want to have some foreknowledge and control over who is coming to live in a given state? If so, do Florida, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona similarly have the same practical need? Isn't that what the border states taking the brunt of the 2 million annual illegal aliens flooding the border have been saying? Haven't they been saying that they can't control or keep up with the influx of illegal aliens and that something needs to be ****ing done about it? It took 50 Venezuelans showing up in one of the richest cities in the country to clue you in to that? NOW it's unfair?

Wait, it's cruel to have 50 illegal aliens in Massachusetts or Delaware, but not cruel to have 1000s of them going to Florida?

Feel free to point out anything Abbott or Desantis ever said against reasonable rates of legal immigration.

They don't complain about immigrants. They complaint about ILLEGAL aliens. That's a rather big difference. Under federal law, it is illegal for illegal immigrants to work in the United States.

A, they aren't illegal.
B. it is cruel to tell them one thing and then deliver them somewhere for political reasons.

3. But you ****ing knew that.

These. People. Are. Not. Here. Illegally.

For ****s sake.

Would legalizing them be an acceptable solution to you? Then they wouldn't be illegal aliens anymore.

Based on the reporting so far, many of the people he sent to Marthas Vineyard weren't even here illegally. They were Venezuelan asylum-seekers who had applied legally and were awaiting a decision.

Under federal law, it is illegal for illegal immigrants to work in the United States.
The people DeSantis dumped in Martha's Vineyard weren't working, they hadn't even been in the country more than a few weeks in most cases. But maybe his Mariel Boatlift to Delaware will be different.

There is also this desire, almost need, for the citizens of Martha's Vineyard to treat these individuals poorly. It is revealing. The Trump Folk must believe everyone is secretly as cruel and hateful as themselves.
