The Illinois village of Dolton has voted in favor of a resolution to hire ex-Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot to investigate its own leader, Tiffany Henyard, who is accused of misusing taxpayer funds and various other corrupt practices.

Lightfoot, who lost her re-election bid in a landslide last year, said she was “honored” to be tasked with the investigation of Henyard — Dolton’s self-proclaimed “Super Mayor.”

“As someone who has made good governance the cornerstone of my career in public service, I recognize that maintaining the trust of those you serve and making decisions in their best interests is essential,” Lightfoot said in a statement Monday evening.

Oh, so she behaved like every other mayor in America. Lol Yes, she should be investigated but it doesn't exactly look good to hire someone at $400/hour to do it.

Tiffany Henyard is an incredible story.

A massive, unrepentant and blatant case of a person becoming mayor and completely corrupting the town from top to bottom and turning it into her personal fiefdom and stealing all the money while she’s at it, I believe the FBI are investigating her.

She basically turned the entire police force into her very own praetorian guard so I hope they all go down too.

I'm sure the vast majority of mayors used Covid funds correctly and never, ever misuse their position.

I know this was an extreme case and maybe I'm too cynical but I just don't seem to have the trust in elected officials that you do.

Yeah...she's a walking dumpster fire.

I keep up with Illinois news on Wirepoints.org. It seems like every week for the last year, there's been some new thing about her doing something illegal, being sued for something by private citizens or former city officials or neglecting the operations of the city in some way.

And yeah...the FBI just recently started getting involved.
