So as some know, this kitten showed itself to us at a certain moment. For those that don't...
Strangest thing though. Noticed yesterday morning cats had another litter on our property. Saw a couple scurrying and hiding.
Just after burial and walking back, my wife looks over and sees a kitten coming out dragging its back legs.

Our Yorkie had a hard time walking, and suddenly a kitten appears that can't walk. Mind blown.
Has been brought in and don't know what we're gonna do. Healthy kitten other than back legs that don't work.
Just some backstory. Our Yorkie had balance issues from birth. Something they could never figure out. Did well, but would occasionally go off balance. She could fall over and jump right back up like "what?".:)

Such a strange coincidence.

.....It's a new chapter.... let's go there.

Took new kitty to vet today. 1 whole pound. X-rays show that it looks congenital, and say the spine is still growing into shape. But no noticable pain response on the back legs when she gave a good little pinch. But he was already meowing, so?

Say there is a  very slim chance of gaining function with a bit of age. Certainly not getting any hopes up on it for sure.
She 'offered the alternative', and nope. If he has a shot at this point of being loved, and enjoying life that's where we're at.

Definitely going to be some work and specific care involved. Working limbs, 'bathroom needs', cleaning. I'm in.

3d printing a simple little wheelchair available online at the moment while I design something to my liking. He deserves to walk here and there and not drag himself.

So everyone, meet Lt. Dan. Yes, I went there. It just popped in my head when wife ask what we were gonna name.:)

Such a cutie too! Would love updates on how he’s getting along.

Can't think of much that isn't cute at a pound. Such a cute little Croc! 😁

Hopefully enjoys life a bit. After all, if this is what he's known and thrived this long in the wild, he ain't giving up. And neither am I.

I have chills! I believe everything happens for a reason, good or bad, I think this kitten came into your life at a time you both needed it to happen.

God bless you, Chock, as you and your wife embark on this wonderful journey!. You have lots of folks rooting for you and Leutenant Dan! Perfect name, by the way. Can't wait to see the wheelchair you devise, and hear your ongoing stories about this adventure! (y)

They say every cat picks its owner. Ours, who was abandoned, showed up at our door, right after our dog passed away.
So, she picked us. She had a great life and passed away two weeks ago. Our Lily was seventeen. Such a loss for us. We miss her so much.

Have fun with your new kitty, and please accept my condolences on the loss of your dog.

it's certainly strange. Finished the simple sling a bit ago. A little acclimation test...

No matter what adjustments, will need to strengthen the front limbs over time. Used to dragging, not for support.
We're gonna retrain those muscles!

You're gonna enjoy sniffing the world.

What's so amazing about this, is that as this kitten grows into adulthood, it will likely take multiple adjustments and possibly re-design to make this work. You can do this! This needs to go viral...you will attract the support of many who can offer support and advice during rehabilitation to great success....can't hurt at all! PLUS, you will capture the hearts of all of us who love the under-dog. I'm so excited for you and little Dan!

Absolutely know going to be a journey of adjustments.

i get the feels. But don't care to monetize in all respect. Bring awareness to animals in need.

It does raise awareness, but just be happy.

But we are in 2025, and, exposure. Have a heart, or too much of one.

Just a sucker. What did i get myself into?! Can't help it.

so glad to hear of your committment to more efforts on top of Yorkie duties.

I have 1 cat with sinusitis that requires hours for me to feed and water. since he can't smell his nose gets in the pate.
I have to keep fluffing up the plate, and carefully washing the food off his nose. He's a smart good cat though.
14 and i also have committed to getting thru the best i can.

God/Great Buddha et all blessings to your family and their dedicated compassion.

Bless you. My last rescue was blind, diabetic and adorable.
Her name was Betsy.

Good on you for helping out a kitty.
Nothing against cats just more of a dog guy who would never want to own a cat.

More a dog guy as well, but animal lover in general. Hadn't had a cat since young. And wife is allergic, so always just dogs.
But the allergen food they have these days seems to be doing the trick.

We went from no cats ever to now two. Saved our Cali from a litter that was having issues and obviously struggling a couple months or so back. Now this one. Can't help it. Gotta do it. 🤷‍♂️

Dan likes to be snuggled in blankets and spots he feels safe. He is also called Little Dan and Little Guy.:)
Cuddles in a little spot on the couch by me, or in his cage blanky.

His little chair which I just downloaded online and printed ATM until. Rudimentary and cobbled until I design/work out something perfect for him. But getting him used to being placed in something while he fusses, and getting those legs used to walking and not dragging.
Got him in it a minute here and there, slowly moving while he works those legs. Gonna take a while and a lot of work. But gonna do my best.
Determined to have this guy be able to walk around and explore in some fashion. He deserves it.
Yes, it's Bengals colors.😁

You are my hero! Fingers crossed he'll be able to use his hind legs eventually.

Fingers not crossed, but gonna do all we can to hopefully spur something. No matter what, the little guy is gonna be helped with the best shot at life we can give. Got a purr out of him.:)

Curious how the litter box is going to work.
Special needs there. Going to be a day by day thing. At the moment, just have to help him go on some paper towel. I'd say helping in this department will be an on going thing. But will do what needs done.

Does he know when he has to go or does he need manual help?
Sadly, ATM, don't believe there is really much control there. So it's a regular assistance thing to make sure he goes and keep him clean.
But at least he eats, drinks, and goes.
