Live Aid 40th Anniversary CNN Special

lots of good clips on YouTube for those who wern't
It was hot. Like really really hot. JFK Stadium was all bleachers. Just bench seating. It was knocked down shortly after. The people in lower seats were getting sprayed with the stadium fire hoses. Up where I was, someone had ripped a water pipe off the bathroom ceiling and was showering people. There was line to get under the that shower. Guys and girls.

I had a round Coleman cooler with a spigot full of ice, vodka, and grapefruit. When that ran out I went to the concession stands for more ice, but they said they weren't allowed to give it out. I was there with my girlfriend and her best friend. They looked at me like I was an idiot and grabbed the cooler. They were soaking wet wearing t-shirts and shorts. They came back with the cooler full of ice, pretzels, and two beers. All free. I looked at myself like I was an idiot.

Did I mention it was hot?

CNN does really good specials Saturday and Sunday nights. After the Live Aid Concert they are running the first of a docuseries on the Billionaires Boys Club. Clips look interesting.

Actually, my wife and I were married that very day about 40 minutes away. And my best man and groomsmen all said, "You are just lucky we all really like you." Because they all wanted to go to the Live Aid Concert in Philly.
