Hey! I’m from Poland. Honestly, that’s even curious why Lithuanian government finally agreed to connect its energy grid with the EU through my country (that should happen before the end of 2009 when Ignalina nuclear power plant is to be closed down). Don’t they really understand that by this means we obtain certain energy leverage over official Vilnyus? Huh, that’s even better for us! They’ve become too cheeky, I say! The rights of Polish minorities in Lithuania have been damned oppressed in these latter years, all right! Now these Lithuanian bustards will have to dance to our tune! Let the Polish be Lithuania’s second official language! In case they recalcitrate, we’ll cut out the electricity! :P

I'm guessing it has to do with its EU membership status more than anything else. Why is the Ignalina plant closing?
