Limit Threads to 4 Per Day:

I mean really folks, this is a public forum with global exposure, none of us own this forum and none of us have the right to monopolize it.

When I click on a Forum, I want don't want to one guy's threads taking up half the page.

I'd like my thread to stick around a bit and pick up further discussion, not be scrolled off the page in a couple of days by one guy.

Fortunately, the heavy posters post good discussion, but now the bot PatrickOlinger has taken over the off-topic page on his first day, repeating a topic and not answering its threads. If it would answer me I might not mind talking to it, but a thread limit would keep a bot from overexposure and scrolling the discussion. A bot or person might post profusely to rig the discussions politically. If they want to rig the discussions, let them do it the old-fashioned way, by taking part in other's threads.

If it's an issue, just ignore the poster.

That's like an ostrich putting its head in the sand.

I'm concerned about the public Forum and what the public sees, and keeping up on the breadth of the discussion.

I never block a poster.

Posts or threads? Your poll is aLL CONFUSED.

Well, I'm not talking about anything but threads, it would be non-sense to limit one's posts.

It seems like seven posters figured it out.

It's good they could read your mind.

I am simply fascinated at what makes communicating accurately so difficult for so many.

Most polls here are an example of education evaded.

The title of the thread containing the word "threads" was explanatory enough for me.
I could stand to see a limit.. 5 maybe. Enough for one in a day.
Hell, I don't really start threads at all. No time, to much stuff to read as it is!

But maybe  some could have a post count limit... 😊

I usually post a poll, if I can think of one. Few of them get much response. It's all part of maintaining the quality of discussion, so that if anyone wants to know the answer to any subject, they just need to read here.

Four posts in 24 hours, you'd have to wait for the clock to tick past your fourth last thread... 3 maybe.

Misplaced worry. Carry on.

But in the poll the options speak of posts only.
I know, I know, I thought the same thing in my last response.

Does everything always have to be so specific?

Yes, 4 is plenty

HOWEVER, as an addendum, i think that should be reserved for anyone under 1K posts.

No, it's a good point of discussion.

I hardly ever know who posts what. There's only so much time, so I look for content. There isn't time to glance over or remember.

Gives you plenty of time to put together a detailed response. ;)

Of course, if one doesn't want to be picked apart by the Proper Police!

Some of the prolific thread starters are going to have 1K posts, they are my target as well, I wouldn't say anything, but this one comes along using Chat GPT, so I figure it's time.

When a poster is new it feels like spam if they keep starting threads. I look at the new threads page first and often.

I’ve been on boards when you couldn’t even start a thread until you’d reached a minimum amount of posts, say 100-500.

You could have three threads, four after 1k and five after 10k posts.

This is the premier site is it not?

A post limit, not thread, but posts, would keep a bot from monopolizing the discussion as well, but a bot as various users could also corner the discussion (if you didn't have me here).

Are you kidding? Some of these thread spammers don't have any place to go outside of Debate Politics.

My first post was a thread, I've seen several others, it's a nice way to break in and say Hi, I've seen greetings as first posts. I would think that three posts a day would be too much to give a beginner, but they might want three in a day.

I wouldn't know how many posts to have maximum in a day, what is the record? What number is often attained?

Me either, but, if I launch two or three threads, I'm inundated with merriment for many hours, I can hardly keep up, my days would be more exciting, if I was more creative and ambitious, usually wrestling with the issues presented keeps me going.

But launch a thread if there is something you want to discuss about, not just because you found some interesting article, although I wouldn't complain, but for the beginner putting thirteen threads on off-topic discussion. How many others? Nip it in the bud.
