Liberal goes back in time

classic, worthless, Trumper dodge on your part.............you lose the debate because you are afraid to start it....
No, it was satire mocking gun control advocates and she didn't made any good points. There are better ways to advocate for reducing gun violence than what was shown in the video.

That is incorrect. I accurately described the substance of the entire video.

There is no debate here for me to even lose. There are only your untrue statements, and my corrections of those statements.

No, it was satire mocking gun control advocates and she didn't made any good points.
I agree.

I don't know about that. As bad as her arguments are, they are probably the "least bad" of all the possible arguments for gun control.

There are no actual good arguments for gun control.

I agree.

Sure there is. We model our gun policy after Switzerland with some American tweaks.

What would be a good argument for gun control?

Too much violence by the wrong people who can easily access weapons.
We fall short of Switzerland. They issue full-auto rifles to militiamen and let them keep them at home.
I'm completely fine with that. However they have licenses in order to own them along other stopgaps.

Perhaps. But gun control doesn't care about stuff like that. Gun control is about outlawing brand names and cosmetic appearances.

I'm completely fine with that.
Unfortunately though, the US is not doing it.

However they have licenses in order to own them along other stopgaps.
Only because the EU imposed it on them. They used to allow people to own machine guns with no oversight, and suffered no social ills from doing so.

That's a type of gun control, yes, but there's licencing, registration, background checks. Etc. In other words, gun control that focuses on who has access to firearms rather than what kind of firearms are available to the public.
Unfortunately though, the US is not doing it.

It is a shame.
Only because the EU imposed it on them. They used to allow people to own machine guns with no oversight, and suffered no social ills from doing so.
Mainly because of their robust social safety nets like healthcare in conjunction to their general attitude towards firearm in the first place.

That's a type of gun control, yes,
That is why gun control is not even about trying to save lives. It is only about maliciously violating people's civil liberties for no reason.

Registration is just a tool to violate our civil liberties. They want to know where the guns are so they can seize them.

I concur.

Again, any law that regulates firearms and who has access to them is a form of gun control. Most average gun control advocates are speaking from a place of empathy and sympathy. They see the single Western nation with the highest gun deaths and want to do something about it. Whether or not their proposals are effective, practical, and non evasive is a matter of discussion.

Plenty of countries have registries and still allow private ownership of firearms.

That isn't what gun control is about in America. Here it is only about maliciously violating people's civil liberties for no reason.

That isn't true. What they want is to violate our civil liberties for no reason because they hate America so much.

Whether or not their proposals are effective, practical, and non evasive is a matter of discussion.
Their proposals are effective at violating people's civil liberties for no reason.

Plenty of countries have registries and still allow private ownership of firearms.
And plenty have abused their registries to violate people's civil liberties.

Maybe you can make that argument for the politicians, but again, that isn't the general consensus of the average us citizen in favor of gun control.
That isn't true. What they want is to violate our civil liberties for no reason because they hate America so much.
Evidence? That's a pretty strong accusation to just throw out there.
Their proposals are effective at violating people's civil liberties for no reason.

Can you name one just to ground our conversation?
And plenty have abused their registries to violate people's civil liberties.
Do they out number the countries that don't abuse their registries?
