The National Post reviewed Carney’s thesis, "The Dynamic Advantage of Competition," with three university experts, who found at least 10 instances of apparent plagiarism.

The experts told the National Post that Carney copied full quotes, paraphrased ideas, and slightly modified sentences from four different sources without giving proper credit.

One of the key examples from the National Post’s report shows Carney closely copying a passage from economist Michael E. Porter’s 1990 book, "The Competitive Advantage of Nations." On page 206 of his thesis, Carney wrote: "First, government intervention can impede international competition and artificially support domestic profits." This is nearly identical to Porter’s original wording.

Carney also reportedly copied sections from Jeremy C. Stein’s 1989 article in The Quarterly Journal of Economics and H.S. Shin’s 1994 article in The RAND Journal of Economics, with only minor wording changes.

The possible plagiarism appears throughout the thesis. "It’s all over the dissertation, not just one part," said Sigalet. Even small wording changes without proper citation are still considered plagiarism.

Oxford University warns that plagiarism is a serious offense that can lead to penalties, including expulsion. "Even when you reword something, you still need to cite the source," Sigalet added.

Weird you didn't put in this quote from your news source:
Carney’s campaign responded to the National Post with a statement from his former Oxford supervisor, Margaret Meyer, who dismissed the allegations. "I see no evidence of plagiarism in the thesis," she said. "Mark’s work was thoroughly researched and approved by a faculty committee."

(original article)

.....He’s been all-in on ESG and sabotage of conventional energy for years. Only, that part of his recent history is being selectively forgotten. Now, as Liberal leader and candidate for an elected term as prime minister, he’s running on growth, claiming that Canada’s fossil fuel sector should be “as competitive as possible,” insisting that he’ll use all “powers, policy instruments and fiscal capacity to speed the construction of major projects.”

It’s nothing but a smokescreen. Clear the air and all Carney is planning is more anti-growth measures for Canada: emissions caps — that is, production caps — on industry; five times more in climate investments than under the Trudeau government; no repeal of the Impact Assessment Act, whose onerous requirements form a barrier to investment in the country; weasel words on the conflict between unsanctioned Aboriginal fishers and their licensed counterparts; and no real plan to get Canada’s car manufacturing industry back on its feet.

He assures Canadians that he’ll respect ethics “screens” if he’s presented with an issue from which he’s poised to benefit — but if he plans to triple down on net-zero plans as prime minster, and his Brookfield funds are geared at profiting from climate finance, it seems that a conflict would be inevitable. “So what?” one might ask, if their primary concern is Donald Trump.......

This was an opportunity for Carney to show Canadians how he might respond to a semi-serious allegation that he considers spurious. And he went absolutely scorched earth. His breathless campaign missive follows: “Dr. Margaret Meyer, Mark Carney’s doctoral supervisor, is unequivocal: there is no evidence of plagiarism in his PhD thesis. Despite this, the American-owned National Post ignored this evidence and ran a story based on the ‘analysis’ of a Conservative donor and activist.”

You blatantly got talking points from the liars at Fox News.
whats the obsession with "talking points? " Is that the term for when you want to attack a poster, but are only shooting blanks?

I saw the OP on Fox. There was a hotlink/credit to National Post.. so i went there.. no "talking points"

I'm just going to sit here and laugh at post#23 putting you in your place.

I’ll do the first what-a-bout. How did dear leader do at middle, high school and university?

That will be a scoop!

Fox News. Russian propaganda.
This is being widely reported in the UK where Fox is unknown. And where Carney obtained a doctorate from Nuffield College, Oxford. Carney is remembered there as the most political Governor of the BofE ever.

The choice is Carney or Polivierre. No one is going to make their decision based on whether someone "may have plagiarized" something when they were in school.

What a stupid thread.

Studying for a doctorate at Oxford University is no being in school. US voters choose a known cheat and liar as their head f government and it seems likely that their Canadian counterparts will do the same.

At the moment, it doesn’t matter. The main thing for Canada is to get a government that can ease the economic warfare Trump is subjecting the country to. This is more likely to happen with Carney, especially in light of his experience in economic policy. Articles like these are to be expected. We are currently flooded with Russian/MAGA propaganda from all directions. The important thing is to stay focused. This goes for Swedes as well.

Carney's cheating is a matter of public record. No Russian or MAGA propaganda is involved. If you wish to ignore facts you are free to do so, just as US were when choose to elect the crooked Trump.

Who are these "experts?"

You've got Putin's back and make excuses for him (as he continues to show us all that he's a murderer) and THIS is what you're gonna choose to bitch about????

Wow

Carney has impeccable credentials and is well respected but I'm certain there are those who don't like him . To compare him to Trump is patently absurd. I suspect this is part of a disinformation campaign.

I see where he was accused of cheating but you seem to think it’s already truth. You are missing the investigation and confirmation steps.

Older members will have some memory of how PostMedia came to be and will have followed it's rising from the ashes of Conrad Blacks genesis & ownership through guys like Paul Godfrey for it to be majority American owned (Chatham investments) and very heavily right wing/Republican biased.

A simple wiki, if nothing else, would serve to educate about the veracity of "hit pieces" along with their origins. Breitbart and The Onion would fit nicely in their wheelhouse of targeted reportage.

Sorta like Faux news pleading their case as being nothing more than an "entertainment" media with not expecting anyone to take their news articles seriously. 😆
