Had it only been Pa that decided the race, the decision to not have Shapiro as VP would have belonged up there, but, this level of defeat indicates a real drag.
 
Right-Wing: Blames moderate-centrists for being too leftist.

Moderate Centrists: Blames the left.

Progressive Leftists: Has no power while having all of the solutions.

Kamala ran a centrist campaign, courting centrist voters OVER her base, offered no real policy agenda, cozied up to the billionaire class, and banked on celebrity endorsements. Hillary arguably ran a better campaign, there was just a cottage industry around her demonization. Biden was to the left of Kamala on domestic policy agenda in the first 2 years, he just implemented very little of it.

Democrats will learn nothing and will ultimately implode as a party. Fascism will reign for quite a while, as Dems will get the wrong message and move further to the fascist right. Fascism only works when the alternatives to fascism (progressive / leftist policies) are abandoned in favor of protecting capital.

Even with PA. it's likely a loss for Dems, so Shapiro wouldn't have changed the result.

This country is massively f***ed. Ukraine is massively f***ed. 10-20% across-the-board tariffs here we come. Decades of far-right-dominated federal courts here we come.

she had 1 job as VP and failed horrible (border)
this administration will be known for high inflation, doubled interest rates, wars in Ukraine/Israel, horrible border situation, Afghan debacle, record spending .... I mean it was going to be tough for any candidate, add in 3 assassination attempts ... ughhh

then, they replaced the Democratically elected candidate Joe Biden with Kamala (who never won a single primary vote) in a nifty bait and switch and I think that soured many people too

her entire campaign was Hate Trump

I'm glad we'll never see Trump again, or Kamala/Biden/Clinton/Bush ............. IIRC there was a Bush/Biden/Clinton on ever ticket for the last 40 years or something .... crazy

The list long, however here are some bullet points:

The entire democrat establishment for attempting to conceal Joe biden's cognitive meltdown for virtually his entire term, then when it finally became clear in the Trump/Biden debate, they failed to run an expedited primary.

TDS. The democrat cries of Trump's a Nazi, Trump's a fascist, Trump's a threat to democracy chants completely backfired.

Lawfare. Using the Justice department and the court system to go after political appointments made it look like America was headed towards the status of "banana republic"

Harris herself because she picked Tampon Tim Walz as a running mate rather then Josh Shapio who could have delivered Pennsylvania.

Harris for her lack of the ability to hold an unscripted press conference and expound on policy rather then continuously uttering rehearsed slogans..

Harris for her annoying cackle.

Joe Biden for calling Trump supporters garbage. The deplorables statement by the hildabeast in the 2016 race was similar stupidity. The democrats lost the working class and their advantage with minority voters is now showing cracks, especially with blck males..

And the biggest single reason they lost is the mess at the southern border.

Kamala had the knowledge of 2016 and still ran a shitty centrist, no-break-from-Biden-except-towards-the-right campaign. Hillary didn't have the hindsight. The notion that the country has shifted rightward is totally missing the point. Dems ran to the right on immigration and foreign policy at the very least. They ran a centrist economic message which has repeatedly failed. What did they avoid completely?

There's no way to avoid the fact that moderate centrism, the neo-liberal vision, has failed. Nobody wants it. Not just in America, but across the world. Hence the global backslide towards right-wing authoritarianism.

You can meet in the middle on issues, but if you preemptively cede issues to the other side (the Dem playbook since the 1990s), why would voters not just choose the other side when the status quo has failed? How is this not obvious?

Instead of trying to offer a message that breaks from the CONSERVATIVE establishment (yes, the establishment is heavily conservative), Dems just doubled-down on trying to appeal to affluent resistance Libs who support Cheney-type conservatives.

There was not one thing Kamala did wrong, it was death by a thousand cuts, and most of these cuts were self-inflicted and built on the mechanisms within the Democratic party.

To an extent. Dems were right to call Trump a fascist, but if that's the only message and you offer no vision of your own, you get fascism -- when the status quo is untenable. Fascism WORKS, that's why the right-wing employs it.

How so? Josh Shapiro had like a 50% approval rating, and governor's have traditionally had very little impact in delivering their own state. And Kamala didn't run on Tim Walz's agenda, they just put him in the closet.

This is far more the fact that she doesn't hold any real positions of her own. There is no underlying principles or ideology. Unlike Hillary, who is very vocal about her TERRIBLE opinions, Kamala was kind of assembled in a Democratic establishment laboratory.

Over a completely legal non-disclosure agreement that initially was charged as a misdemenaor, then it was bumped up to a felony because Trump ran for president in 2024. It's banana republic lawfare.

However Shapiro at least has the ability to think on his feet, something both Harris and Tampon Tim lack. Perhaps Harris did not want a running mate that would outshine her.

No the southern border mess is actually a produc to the democrats since at least the 1980s attempting to change voting demographics in their favor through illegal immigration.Thats really what the comprehensive immigrations bills have been about.
 
It seems for all the lights and enthusiasm, the Harris campaign failed to connect with enough people to get them out. Trump’s numbers are the same as the ones he lost with in 2020. The EC map should have looked the same. Sure she started late but all Harris had to do was repeat Biden’s lead against the guy they already beat once. She didn’t get out those extra voters. They were hers to lose and she did.

I think it was a good campaign but they probably missed the mark on a few issues that didn’t necessarily send people over to Trump, but made them stay home.

I'm afraid you don't understand the right-wing foreign policy reasons behind migration and I'm not interested in educating you today. Lets just say Trump was the reason for the Venezuela migration. Biden continued it, because he's ultimately on the same page on most issues.
 

Yup. I thought at most the best case scenario for Trump was a narrow victory via Pa, which would have solidified that hypothesis. Instead we have... .this.
