A female history teacher has been fired from her Birmingham school in the UK after officials learned she had embarked on a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old female student.

According to the Daily Mail, history teacher Gemma Beckett, 31, was fired this week for the sexual relationship with the 18-year-old student at John Henry Newman Catholic College.

A misconduct panel heard Beckett met the student back in 2016 when she enrolled in the school as a Year 13 pupil.

The number of nuns is dwindling. Most Catholic schools are taught by lay teachers. In many ways they are worse than the nuns when it comes to discipline. A lay teacher beat me up in front of her classroom because she saw me push back into line returning from recess outdoors. My parents came to the school next day & spoke to the principal, who reamed out the teacher. She looked mad when she came into the classroom.

A little more info ins needed. How old was the student when the relationship began? I understand it that she was 18 and I'm assuming that's legal age in UK? Anyway no crime, it's a breach of professional conduct and she admitted to it so there is the problem. Just as a Football coach shouldn't have relations with a college cheerleader, just is inappropriate, not illegal, but professionals usually have clauses in conduct to address this stuff. You sign the contract you agreed.

Obviously, those people aren't Catholic, or they are very naive Catholics.
