Leftists constantly ask why we are such staunch supporters of the right to keep and bear arms. Here is my answer.

Just how you ask?

1. You elect marshmallow soft politicians and prosecutors who allow the violent criminal out of prison much sooner. This explains why recidivists account for 80 plus percent of those committing new violent crime. You force us to protect ourselves from these animals you release on us early.

2. You constantly seek to amend/repeal the 2nd amendment to eliminate private ownership of firearms. We are forced to resist this of course.

3. You are unable or unwilling to accept the words of our founders who expressed their opinions that the people should always be allowed arms. That ignorance could eliminate my right. Again forced to fight the ignorance and for my right.

4. You allow unfettered illegal immigration flooding our country with god knows who from third world shitholes. Many bringing that evil and lawlessness here.

5. Tax and spend policies crippling our economy and pushing us faster toward 3rd world shithole statues.

So in summary it’s you leftists that cause the pro gun crowd to take up arms. Now you know lol.

I have and you are half right. They did indeed want a well regulated militia. There are however dozens and dozens of direct quotes of those same founders saying things like….. "No freeman shall ever be debarred the use of arms..." or "The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

Have you really read their words?

"A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined..."

"The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

Is that why there are numerous quotes from the founding fathers saying the exact opposite of what you are claiming.
 
It really doesn’t matter how many times you show them the that. They will continually stick their fingers in their ears and pretend otherwise.

It’s almost as dumb as the claim that the 2nd only applies to guns from back then. But yet somehow the 1st magically applies to all modern technology.

Just to clarify, LA is not a third world shit hole. It's a first world shit hole. And most of the people fleeing from there are not illegal immigrants.

Most leftists also support the second ammendment. The second ammendment has gray areas. The disagreements for most on the left and the right are in the gray areas, not about the 2nd itself.

As with many other posters here on the DP forums, Daddyo and braindrain show their ignorance of American History with every comment in regards to the Second Amendment.

One example of legal codes in the 18th century, in Boston, following the finish of the Revolution, a law was passed that said citizens [white males] were allowed to keep a firearm in their residence but no gunpowder was to be present in the home.

Folks, it is all cool to look at words written many years ago and understand this and understand that from those words, but the key is that the cats are out of the bags. And, yes, I mean that to be plural.

There are way too many firearms all over the nation for a downright ban to work. Plain and simple, no law enforcement entity has the resources to search every home, barn, warehouse, building in the U.S. of A. to find all the weapons that are out there. It just ain't possible. To heck with all the fancy talk, just one person inform me of who has drawn up the blueprint on the operation necessary to collect EVERY firearm in the U.S. of A. and then maybe I could start to have some faith in it being possible.

Oh yes, and it ain't just buildings you'd have to search. Many smart folks that wanted to keep theirs would bury them below the gardens/yards in lots of grease so they don't rust.

I also think there are a lot of people who know ways to make the ammo, so going after the ammo isn't going to work. I mean, if you want a total ban.

And how about your hunters. How about areas of the nation where a firearm might be necessary against wild animals. You going to include them in the ban? Or would that be your first loophole? And as soon as there is a "first" loophole, up pops a second. Then a third.

Nope, a total ban isn't going to solve the problem. Sounds cool. Reads cool. Makes some folks feel good. Makes some folks feel angry. But it is plain and simple nonsense.

Last thought, you are going to ban crossbows, too?
