The U.S. Supreme Court today granted the Trump administration’s emergency request to lift a
temporary restraining order barring federal immigration officials from conducting “roving
patrols” and profiling people based on their appearance in Los Angeles and Southern
California.
The case is likely to have an enormous impact, not just for Los Angeles but across the country,
several experts told CalMatters. It means immigration agents can legally resume aggressive
street sweeps that began in early June in Los Angeles, the epicenter for President Donald
Trump’s mass deportation campaign.
The Supreme Court, by a 6-3 majority, agreed with the Trump administration that federal
immigration officers can briefly detain and interrogate individuals about whether they are
lawfully in the United States and that they can rely on a “totality of circumstances” standard
for reasonable suspicion. That means everything the officer knew and observed at the time
of the stop.
Papers don't matter. They are removing American citizens.SCOTUS just basically agreed to racial profiling for Latinos in LA, and I'm sure this can be extended to anywhere.

Sign, America is definitely moving backwards.

Calif conveniently doesn't issue enhanced drivers licenses which would have solved this 'problem'. They only have themselves to blame
Is showing your ID harassment? How would an enhanced driver’s license keep a person from being harassed by the police based on their appearance and job?
Being stopped by the police while doing nothing wrong is 100% harassmentIs showing your ID harassment?
How can you tell the difference between a citizen and a non-citizen by looking at them?profiling is good
in cities that have willingly brought in so many non-citizens, it is needed
Randomly prove your citizenship to agents of the state stopping you in the streets… just like the Founders intendedShould US citizens be required by law to carry their IDs with them at all times?
When they started to deport Cubans out of South Florida I knew that they would lose support.Huh...
He used Hispanics to win the election and now he can shit all over them as he always intended.
Way too many suckers in this nation of ours...

I've been well ahead of the curve by having gotten a passport card for myself and insisted family members do the same. I'd rather not carry a passport around, which is why I opted for both a passport for travel and a card for unexpected encounters with immigration officials.SCOTUS just basically agreed to racial profiling for Latinos in LA, and I'm sure this can be extended to anywhere.

I suspect it's when they start targeting Cubans that things will get interesting in terms of support. When they started to deport Cubans out of South Florida I knew that they would lose support.
Rescinding Temporary Protected Status of Cubans shown to me they they don’t give a **** about the Latinos that tend to be ConservativeI suspect it's when they start targeting Cubans that things will get interesting in terms of support.
What you're trying to avoid is getting detained by ICE, because those who have don't get a chance to notify anyone so it creates a whole mess for family members etc. I would not assume anything about my rights in this country anymore so I'd rather be prepared to avoid something like that altogether. I'm also avoiding rural areas devoid of brown people because that's where my kind stands out, so it's just not worth the risk.So let's say I'm Latino and walking around without papers. Doesn't the concept of probable cause apply if the police want to stop me?
The way I see it I don't need to prove citizenship, they need to have a reasonable suspicion that I am not.
