I'm finally sitting down to read this book from start to finish. I was told it was super spicy. I've read many spicy books and so far this is very, very mild. Maybe 1/5 . I can see how it would've been considered very explicit 100 years ago, but it's nothing like the sex written in romance books today.

Anyone else read it? Your thoughts?

I agree. Read it during high school, after I started working at the local library (and thus had access to the books not available on the shelves).

Quite a disappointment.

I didn't like it that much, but there was a lot of emotion in it.

The book was first published privately in 1928, but it wasn’t until 1959 that a ban on the book was lifted in the U.S., and 1960 that an uncensored version was published in the United Kingdom.

Anything by DH Lawrence is enjoyable reading.
It beats the pap people read nowadays.
