Krauthammer told Fox News host Bret Baier that the UN has "turned out to be a disaster," criticizing the recent Security Council resolution urging Israel to stop building settlements on occupied Palestinian land.
"This is very serious damage that cannot be undone because you can't change a Security Council resolution without the acquiescence of the Russians and the Chinese, and you're not gonna get it," Krauthammer said.
The nationally syndicated columnist then joined other conservatives in calling for the abolishment of the UN's Manhattan headquarters.
"It is an organization that exacerbates tensions; it does not assuage them," Krauthammer said of the UN. "Any move to minimize our support for it, any move to get it out of the US — imagine if headquarters were in Zimbabwe, the amount of weight and coverage it would get would be zero."
Charles Krauthammer: Trump should turn UN headquarters into condos - Business Insider
The good news here, is neither Trump nor Krauthammer are entitled to do a thing about the U.N., condo conversions or otherwise!Right on.
The rat infested **** hole should be condemned, knocked to the ground and the space turned over to someone who will turn it into something useful.
I loved Krauthammer's comments.
I think one thing the Trump administration is going to do is a thorough investigation on actually how much money the taxpayer is on the hook for funding the U.N..Last I checked it was listed at 22 + percent of the U.N.'s operating budget but that is only part of it. Many of our agencies fund the U.N. and nobody seems to know how much We the People are being taken for. That's absurd. Especially when you look at the size of our debt.
I look to see key legislation that will defund the U.N. significantly allowing the United States to fund only those activities and agencies that are efficient and in our national interest. And that would be a big step in the right direction.

If Trump feels so strongly about the U.N., then he needs to convince Congress to withdraw from it. If not, then abide by it & quit whining.

Krauthammer Diagnoses Trump: ‘Beyond Narcissism,’ Has ‘Infantile Hunger for Approval’ | MediaiteTrump’s hypersensitivity and unedited, untempered Pavlovian responses are, shall we say, unusual in both ferocity and predictability.
This is beyond narcissism. I used to think Trump was an 11-year-old, an undeveloped schoolyard bully. I was off by about 10 years. His needs are more primitive, an infantile hunger for approval and praise, a craving that can never be satisfied. He lives in a cocoon of solipsism where the world outside himself has value — indeed exists — only insofar as it sustains and inflates him.

I predict that Krauthammer becomes a big Trump fan, and he is the guy who said this:

Of course. They are both blithering idiots.

"Right on" my ass. That is unhinged rhetorical bull**** and does not deserve to be taken seriously, let alone praised.

Unhinged rhetorical bull****?? I thought it was humor.
Mike Huckabee: Obama's legacy is to 'embrace Iran' and 'reject Israel' - Washington Times“We provide most of the funding for the U.N. and it’s time for us to re-evaluate,” Mr. Huckabee, a former 2016 GOP presidential candidate, said on Fox Business Network. “I’m not sure there’s any value to the U.N. It’s a joke.”
“We ought to get jackhammers and we ought to jackhammer the whole thing off, float it into the East River, ask anybody who would like to host it to come pick it up, haul it off, and it’ll be a lot easier to park in Manhattan after we get rid of it,” Mr. Huckabee said in a separate appearance on Fox News.
I think an awful lot of important people are finding that even stopped clocks are right twice a day.
Yep, exactly. When you enter into a Senate ratified charter agreement, you agree to the chartered goings-on. You can honor the agreement, or remove yourself from the agreement via Congress. But as long as you're in, you're bound!Absolutely. The senate ratified the UN charter on 28 July 1945 and it has the force of a treaty. So congress would have to act to dissolve it. But I'm not sure if it would take 2/3rds vote of the senate or just the proper legislation being passed. I don't know when adopting the UN charter if language was left in for an out or not.
Congress can stop appropriating funds to the UN. But as for the building or buildings, I am sure they are under a legal lease. Most Americans think the UN is doing a bad job. But most Americans are not willing to give up our role in the UN even if most think the UN sucks. Lots of good info from Gallup below.
