Knife wielding bad guy vs. cops

He'd earlier stabbed an elderly man in a supermarket. I don't know how good her shot placement was, but at that range he took enough to later succumb from his injuries. Brings to light magazine restrictions various states have enacted and what handgun calibers are the most effective. I mainly use 9mm but geez, this guy was swatting shots off like mosquitoes.

Definitely some crazy, evil people in this world.

What about MACE, pepper spray, his taser, his baton ?

You only get so many chances/warnings to behave like a civil human being. Once that has been disregarded, you are viewed as capable of doing anything to anyone and treated accordingly. And, if you're going to charge an officer with a knife that already has a weapon drawn, they have to assume you're willing to use maximum force to incapacitate them. A gun is the most appropriate tool to end that scenario.
 

*But the British police are Ninja-trained to disarm people with knives and here's a video of someone explaing how to win a knife fight with a marshmallow.

What about Mace, pepper spray, etc? Is that what you would use in the situation that the LEO was facing? I highly doubt that.

So the aim is to kill and not apprehend at that point ?

Yes and moreover that is what I would have him/her use


Plus perhaps a riot shield.

I feel like this conversation is me helping a small child across the street. Do you really believe apprehension was even possible for the one officer? Of course I’m assuming you watched the video.

Yes, absolutely

Policemen should be strongly built and physically fit. Pepper spray and a baton should be more than enough to defeat a knife.

too many times actually; surprised I've lived to old age.

It's just common for a person not to understand such if it hasn't been experienced;

This was in my opinion a good shooting. The officer was idiotic however in pulling over someone who was accused of stabbing someone without backup.

We had someone who was armed and going directly at the officer. Had the guy stayed at his vehicle I would feel differently

I guess like most British police who only saw fit to kill 3 people in a year where US police killed 1,536

So do you think that the British:

1. Are less violent
2. Less likely to carry knives
3. Have better mental health
4. Have a far better police service ?

This officer was WELL TRAINED an well disciplined. Although she let the guy get a little closer than is usually recommended. Notice even in the heat of battle she professionally clears a jam and continues firing. A real pro.
 

England is considerably smaller and their law enforcement is not my concern.
 

I would like to see the tox screen and blood work from the ME report; I lost count of the number of locals in Iraq brought to my trauma room the simply wouldn't go down with a few rounds of 9mm, or even 5.56 center mass if the round didnt strike a vital organ or major vessel, only to find out they were blazed up on Hashish or something similar.

Have you ever worked in law enforcement?
Would your answer change if the knife suspect would have been able to stab the LEO? You seem to want the LEO's to respond at the same level as the suspect. If they have a knife, use a baton, taser, or pepper spray. It would be interesting how well you would do against someone charging you with a knife.


imo, based just on the vids it looks like a good shoot to me.
