Kim-Jong un is furious

This is hilarious. But wait, it gets better. Kim said the accident "brought shame to the nation's prestige". Prestige?

Hey North Korea - congrats on the new submarine!
I do feel for the people who will surely face execution by howitzer as a result of this.

Too funny. Classic communist dysfunction. Probably underfunded and forced to an impossible completion schedule, with everyone avoiding telling the egocentric leader the funding and scheduling was unrealistic.

This is why healthy democracy is better. It is why we don't want an egocentric leader who will not listen to anyone but suck-ups.

Two things that when said together never caused anyone concern....North Korea...and Navy.

[Un] describing the incident as a “criminal act”

Probably oiling up his favourite AA gun now.

Should have just bought a destroyer from Qatar.

This is a satellite photo of the ship which they've tried to conceal with tarps.

Kim has said he wants this repaired ASAP. From reports I've seen the hull was detached in a couple of places.

Any navy people know if this would be salvageable?

I would normally laugh at this whole thing.

But I know that a whole bunch of people are going to die unspeakable deaths because of this.

I would not be surprised if Kim personally tortures them to death.

Building it out of wood was a mistake.

He already said that he's gonna have everyone at fault arrested.

@jpn you were in the navy. Can you look at the photo in post 15.

Will that buff out?

Probably take a bit more than a can of paint or two.

CNN reports that "Satellite imagery showed the vessel lying on its side, the stern in the water, and the bow still on land."
Ouch!

A good part of it must be flooded. Electronic control and weapons systems, electrical wiring etc doesn't stand up to salt water very well.

The whole event subjected it to stresses abstinent designed to withstand. My money is on it being scrapped.

That's a huge setback for a country with a GDP that's less than 30 billion.
