Which is why I posed my observations as questions, we dont know the full story or even if what the granny said was true, too many inconsistencies in my view for the KFC story to be believable but Im willing to wait till the truth comes out. That is what the grandmother said in the video. I have no idea what the situation is, but it definitely does not sound like the grandmother liked the grandfather at all, so I have no idea why you would assume they were still together if he has a girlfriend. I have not seen anything that says that they were living together nor that the grandmother took the granddaughter over to the grandfather's house and that is when she got mauled.
That's all good and well. But the fact is your employees represent you. They are you. This is the cost of a bad hire.

It is. But it is not just the employee the way it sounds.

Uh, no. It was KFC's official policy. Learn about corporate America rule #1--when poor customer service is exposed, always blame the employee.
There are many interesting posts on the Facebook page that are coming out. Here is one of them:
"If anyone was wondering, apparently this isn’t the real story of what happened. According to people in the town, Kelly had approached the store manager to ask that they throw several children out because they were staring at Victoria. Not making fun of her or bullying her, just staring. The manager had no reason to throw them out because they weren’t being openly rude or nasty to the point of unreasonableness, so she refused. Then the grandmother started getting angry because the manager wouldn’t do what she said and became so disruptive that she was the one asked to leave. At no point did anyone say that they were being thrown out of the store because of the injuries to Victoria’s face. It was all because the grandmother reacted poorly to children showing a natural curiosity over Victoria’s injuries. Maybe the children’s parents could have asked them to stop staring because it was impolite, but according to the stories going around, they weren’t doing anything over the top.
After they left, the grandmother started going to every news station she could and told everyone that KFC was mean to them, all the while telling them that she was doing a fundraiser to pay for Victoria’s hospital bills. I hope that none of this is true, but it sounds a little too reasonable for my comfort level."
Interesting.
While it is possible that an employee just decided that the child was bothering people, I really don't know, but the way it reads, a customer or customers complained.
I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen or experienced an employee of a fast food restaurant or any restaurant being outwardly hostile or rude to anyone without being provoked in some way. On the other hand - ha ha - I don't have enough digits to count the number of times I've seen or experienced a customer of a fast food restaurant or any restaurant being outwardly hostile or rude to employees or other customers whether provoked or not.
It may be uncharitable, but I'm inclined not to believe a member of a family that would allow a young child to be alone and open to attack by three family pit bulls - that takes an incredible level of ignorance and neglect and a certain level of arrogance.
Personally, I think it was classy of KFC

Personally, I think it was classy of KFC - good PR too - to offer $30,000 for the child's medical bills - I hope they ensure the dollars go to doctors and healthcare providers and not give it to the family directly.
KFC forked over $30K, I think someone was that heartless....and promptly fired.
Indeed, so classy to kick the child out and then do nothing until threatened w/negative publicity on social media.

Customers may have complained, but employees and managers are under severe pressure to conform by the letter to corporate policies no matter how stupid and insane they are (and they frequently are esp. w/ones run by incompetent CEOs).
There's no report that KFC has yet fired the employee--it's possible that he/she may have documented the fact that the action was in compliance w/KFC policies and therefore can easily file a termination lawsuit against KFC upon firing.
If there was no firing, that's most likely the case.
Maybe not, but someone could definitely be that stupid.
This whole boycott nonsense is just that though, this has nothing even to do with KFC at all, could have just been some over zealous franchisee or manager.
KFC has more than made up for it IMO.
They kicked the child out? You were there?
The grandmother went public immediately and went to all the local media stations, and also to Facebook. They didn't even know about it. What were they supposed to do about something they knew nothing about?

Who is the incompetent CEO of KFC? And what are KFC's policies specifically? I assume you work in the Jackson,MS KFC the way you seem to have such insider information in all of your posts.
All I was saying was that it is more likely to me that it was not JUST the employee but others involved as well. Other employees and/or customers.
KFC did know about it--it mandated the employee's actions as part of its official corporate policy, and then tried meakly to backtrack from it when it was exposed to the public.
It is KFC's current policy to remove all customers that impede the enjoyment of other customers (though one may question the sanity of anyone who "enjoys" at KFC), without exception, and the employee was specifically ordered to follow that policy by the letter (or else be fired).
And only an incompetent CEO would mandate such a policy.
The CEO was likely involved, since he created the policy under which the child was kicked out.
