Obama wasnt for gay marriage he was for civil unions. Its two different things in the gay community to my understanding.

There's actually a substantial minority of democrats that don't specifically support gay marriage. Nearly all democrats support pretty much everything up to that(adoption, civil unions, etc.), but gay marriage is still a little bit of fringe issue.

As noted previously this is incorrect. In fact Mr. Obama and all of the POTUS candidates from the DNC are for keeping marriage as between a man and woman. For example the democrat who won the race………………..Mr. Obama.:shock:
