PHILADELPHIA — A new Clinton administration would pursue a bill to legalize illegal immigrants in “the first 100 days” of her tenure, vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine told Spanish-language network Telemundo in an interview Monday, presenting a deep contrast with Republicans.

Simply...................OUTRAGEOUS!!!
I can see allowing those here illegally to assimilate and eventually succumb to attrition. But only *if* we firstly put-up an air-tight border the very best we can!
Stop illegal immigration, and the internal problem of illegal-immigrants-within will resolve itself over time without the need to take any actions at all.
This stuff isn't rocket science.

I think the rocket science comes in with actually figuring out how to stop illegal immigration.
Actually it's not. If there is nothing for you here if you are an illegal alien the problem is largely dealt with in existing law. The real problem is being able to identify illegal aliens - quite a lot of flak has been thrown up in that effort. Take away access to education, all but emergency medicine (followed by deportation), opening a bank account, any government subsidies (federal, state or local), the ability to rent a place to stay and put any remittances to South American countries (the vast bulk of the problem) under a microscope would send the most of them home right now and stem the tide.
It's all about enforcement.
I think you're still going to end up with the problem that even without access to those services, life here is still better than life impoverished in their countries. You're still going to end up with under the table pay and identity theft in order to receive those services. I do think the right approach is to focus on removing incentives though, rather than trying to physically stop up the border with something that there are endless ways of getting around.

I don't see reports that doctors, engineers, etc are crossing the border illegally. What is reported are poorly educated, manual labor type skills crossing the border illegally.
I wonder how many who cross the border illegally really want to become US citizens? imo, few really want to assimilate.
The immigration issue is one that makes me want to vote for Trump. Even though I dislike him.
Hammer the companies that hire the illegals and the lack of jobs will force them to self deport. It's quite simple.
How would you enforce it among those who make their own jobs (handymen, etc.)?
I think we can get the border pretty tight if we legitimately expended the effort, and then make e-verify mandatory. I think the two preceding ideas would go a long way to rectifying the problem. So never then.

It would seem to me those states that don't participate in e-verify are valuing the interests of the state's employers, over those of the citizen's and legal workers.I think securing the border is a pipe dream. Mandatory full E-Verify I agree with. You'd be surprised how many states don't participate. and only like 2 or 3 enforce the whole package.

This will probably come off as racist or whatever, but I think it's kind of sad that many Hispanics are basically fighting for the right to get around the law.
