The brothers will now need the help from Gov. Gavin Newsom to obtain their freedom.

Do you agree with the Judges granting life will possibility of parole?

------------

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Erik and Lyle Menendez will have a new shot at freedom after 35 years behind bars for murdering their parents, a judge ruled Tuesday.

The ruling from Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael Jesic reduced the brothers’ sentences from life in prison without parole to 50 years to life, making them immediately eligible for parole. The state parole board must decide whether to release them.

This was such a sensational case back in the day. Were they being abused or were they just after money? I've always leaned that they were being abused throughout their life by the parents as this made the most sense to me for both of them to be willing to kill. With that said, I'm not against a chance at parole after all this time if a board deems them ready.

Very sensationalized case, as was the resulting sentence. Perhaps it is time to reconsider how long they should be locked up.

I was living just north of LA back then. It was OJ like in the press.

The LA district attorney is against their release.

Unless there was any medical or DNA evidence of sexual abuse then its a toss up. But why they never reported it was an issue.

Just given how many times they shot each of them always stuck out to me as some sort of emotional need to rid the earth of something bad. Plus, it wasn't like these two were hurting for money when their parents were alive. Sounds like their track record in prison is pretty solid so I would wager they see parole.

Yeah, that's how I feel about it.

The judges decision makes them eligible for parole.
Actually being granted parole will still not be easy for them considering the nature of their crime.

Newsome will probably grandstand on a dumb podcast and then deny parole, but they ought to receive commendations for removing child-abusing rapist ****s from among the living.

While I agree with the need to get rid of the scum but their is a lack of evidence his parents were indeed abusing them.
