Judge blocks Trump admin from withholding funding to 34 cities and counties over 'sanctuary' policies

I am not arguing that
But you don't seem to understand what a sanctuary city is
It isn't a safe haven
Federal laws still apply
You're building starw-men. I never claimed it was a haven where federal laws didn't apply. It's a haven from their full enforcement.

You can stop right there. A non-criminally minded illegal immigrant looking for work is also looking to commit a felony or, at a minimum, be involved in a felony.

It's a crime to lie about one's legal status when applying for a job. It is a crime to knowingly hire an undocumented worker. Either way, a felony has been committed, either by the employee or the employer.
That's Trump all over; guilty as sin for employing (if he even paid them}, undocumented migrants.

A friendly reminder for the reality-challenged in this thread. Below is an important section of the Federal I-9 form, a form that must be completed by nearly every job applicant in all 50 states:

1756120820667.webp

Accepting the premise that the number of employers who would file documentation they've hired an undocumented worker will be very small, we can reasonably presume nearly all illegal immigrants currently employed in any state have perjured themselves by giving a false answer on this section of the I-9 form.

We can then further surmise that any state that willfully ignores an opportunity to report an undocumented worker is willfully ignoring felony crime.

Do tell, what do you think it's a "haven from" if not from immigration law enforcement?

And cases of assisted evasion are not rare:

“Sanctuary states/cities” are simply states and cities which will not permit local resources to be used to enforce federal law. They have no obligation to do so, nor can the federal government compel them to do so. Because that is federal LEO responsibility. Federal LE can go into each and every one of those states and enforce immigration law.

Does that include federal civil rights law?
It includes every federal law. States can’t violate the US constitution, but they can’t be forced to ENFORCE any federal law.

Absent a veto-proof majority, how do you suppose they manage that?
Congress creates law, potus signs it he doesnt create. Scotus oversees and make sure its legal.

This is basic shit nat...

Yes, it is basic, and here's some less basic thinking. By your own admission, in almost every instance a law cannot be created without the President's signature, so how can it be said that a President isn't part of creating law when his opinions (through a veto threat) surely influence the bill that emerges from Congress?

I don't think you're ready for a debate on civics. You've got some basic reading to do, first.

He doesnt create the law.

He doesnt create the law.
Correct. He is part of a government system that creates the law, and he plays a vital role in the creation of law in almost every instance. In fact, the President's vote for the bill (represented by the act of signing ) or his vote against it (his veto) is more important and more influential than is any vote in either house of Congress. His approval, or lack thereof, counts more than than the votes of 217 reps and 66 Senators, combined.

QED: the President has a larger role in creating law than does anyone in the legislative branch.

As I said, you're in over your head in this debate. I'd give it rest.

No potus has a limited role and thats about it.
It can be more powerful at certain times. Thats why there is a check and balance to make sure its not that powerful.

Which is the basis of our government. Balance. No one branch is more powerful than the rest.

Over my head? Lol..sit down.

Basic civics would have taught you this and not your warped version of our governemnt. All you have been is a bad faith actor trying to be a wannabe crank like mycroft.

When you're in a hole, stop digging.

The President's vote on a bill is literally more important than the combined votes of 66 Senators and 217 Reps. Who in their right mind would ever described that as a "limited" role in law creation?

Answer: someone who cannot admit when they are wrong.

Lol "libertarian"
Tons of Republicans just don't have the guts to take responsibility for what's happening.

So they call themselves something else or swear they didn't vote for the evil.
