Here we have the Jordanians and Egypt saying we can do the job.....but they need the weapons. They are willing to take the fight to ISIS on the ground. But there seems to be some difficulty for them. What say ye?

Action on ISIS

The Obama administration has not yet responded to Jordanian request for military equipment necessary in the fight against ISIS amidst news reports about the request being turned down. That Washington had once refused to provide lethal weapons to the Syrian rebels under concerns of such arms one day falling in the hands of radical groups fighting in Syria was understandable but in the case of Jordan that is absurd. Jordan is a country that enjoys receiving advanced U.S. weaponry. The same applies for Egypt. Egyptians’ requests for U.S.-manufactured weapons have been always met with procrastination by Washington which prompted them to diversify weapon providers like Russia and France. Listening to Jordanian and Egyptians these on terror, one can see the unmistakable dismay they express over the inadequate assistance they receive in their declared war on ISIS; the war they believe as inseparable from the U.S.’s interests.

Additionally, there is now an anti-terror alliance being formed by Jordan and the Gulf states on one hand and Egypt and the Libyan government on the other. Such an Arab version of the war on terror has been implemented with America’s hesitance and decisiveness in the background. However, it carries a message to the Obama administration that, if sending troops to Syria, Iraq and Libya may cause disputes in the White House and the Congress, we can do the job but we need help, let it be logistic, military and political.....snip~

I think we should be discreet so as not to undermine their positions at home, but support them to the hilt.

There is nothing to be discreet about with Libya.....action is required now.

there is a UN blockade. the UN says it doesn't want to allow weapons to the government
( there are multiple governments -the one in Tripoli is run by Libyan Dawn) in Tobruk because of "weapons diversion".

Western powers are wary of committing to action in Libya, still awash with weapons and rival militias battling for control of its cities and oil wealth.
Libya's neighbour Tunisia said it too opposed military intervention, instead calling for a political solution.- Talks are 'best hope' -
That echoed a statement Tuesday by the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Spain that an ongoing UN-backed attempt to get Libya's warring sides to negotiate forming a government of national unity was the "best hope" for peace.

Shoukry said the UN must "reconsider the restrictions" on arms deliveries to the Libyan government, which is seeking to "impose its authority and restore stability," according to his office.
Arabs to ask UN to ease Libya arms embargo

There verywell could be weapons diversion, but without arms Tobruk can't do anything. The other problem of course in the militias
they do switch sides, and trying to arm one faction but not another is futile.

Political talks are/have been also futile. It's a mess, thanks to Obama/NATO "regime change"

The US and the Brits shot it down today.....basically told Libya they need to establish one Government. How in the hell are they going to do that? ISIS has all those Cities and towns. Ansar al Sharaih and AQ are holding those others.

;)

Libya, virtually a failed state in recent years, has succeeded in one way: It’s providing a perfect opportunity for ISIS to expand from Syria and Iraq to establish a strategic foothold closer to European shores.

Extremists loyal to the group have taken control of two Libyan cities on the Mediterranean coast, have moved toward oil facilities and are slowly infiltrating the capital, Tripoli, and the second-largest city, Benghazi. They have siphoned off young recruits from rival militant groups linked to Al-Qaeda and in some places taken over those groups’ training camps, mosques and media networks. Notably, there appears to be strong coordination between the Libya branch and the group’s central leadership in Syria and Iraq. One of its top sheikhs, Bahraini Turki al-Binali, has visited the Libyan city of Sirte to preach: in 2013 and again at the end of last year, soon before it fell into the hands of the group’s supporters, according to a rival militia official based there. The official spoke on condition of anonymity for fear for his life.

About 400 mostly Yemeni and Tunisian fighters are in Sirte, according to Libyan Interior Minister Omar al-Sinki. The militia official said ISIS fighters have set up headquarters in the city’s convention complex, the Ouagadougou Center, built by former dictator Moammar Gadhafi as a symbol of his secular regime’s aspirations to be a pan-African leader. An AP reporter who briefly visited Sirte Wednesday saw masked militants deployed along the main road linking the convention center to downtown. And the southern shore of Italy is about 660 kilometers away, a distance Libyans fleeing their country’s chaos regularly try to cross in rickety boats. Italy and France favor some sort of international action in Libya, while Egypt is pressing for a U.N.-backed coalition air campaign.....snip~

Doesn't seem to be very much that the current government is holding on to.
What a grand idea to topple Gaddafi.
Who was it that decided that topple Gaddafi was such a brilliant, grand idea?
Who was that again that prompted that toppling?
Wasn't 'Leading fro behind' one of those key phrases?

Supply them the logistics etc. But don't tell.

Lemme get this straight. Western countries topple a leader, creating chaos, then tell the people it's their problem to fix the mess they left behind? :werd:

Well the Saud and the French were the Masterminds.....but then they tricked Susan Rice and Hillary, who then talked BO Peep into coming aboard. That's when you heard that famous line.

BO was like.....well I don't know. Then Hillary said it was okay,

leave it to her and he could lead from behind. He was still the President. :2razz:

Saud and the French, and wouldn't you know it, the Italians get screwed with 500,000 ISIS migrants, probably all to don their suicide vests while in country. How wonderful.

And once again, we see the feet of lead, the total and complete ineptitude of team Hillary and Obama at it. So why is it that we should vote for her as president again? Seems like all the reasons are evaporating away, rather hastily, I might add.

Heya Leoborn. :2wave: They don't call it.....The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly for nothin'. Just sayin!

Where does "vengeance" fits in this whole story?

Heya 3D. :2wave: Right there in the top of the Article. ;)

Only a few hours following ISIS’ release of a video showing its masked militants’ beheading of 21 Egyptian Coptic Christian workers, Egypt, in retaliation, sent its F-16 warplanes to Libya to hit the group’s hideouts there typically echoing Jordan’s vengeance following the burning alive of its pilot Moaz al-Kasasbeh. Exactly as Jordan did, Egypt accompanied its military action on ISIS with diplomatic efforts seeking to build a world consensus on the importance of eradicating the radical organization which is undoubtedly now the embodiment of all terror. Like Jordan, Egypt seems to be determined to hurt ISIS and “healing the chests” of its citizens, yet complications persist.....snip~

Before all were looking at just Benghazi.....which is now an Islamic Emirate beheld by ISIS. Should Hillary run.....that's when the rest of Libya opens up and becomes her sink-hole.

Yeah, opens up right under her feet.

More and more I'm getting to the opinion that she's not going to run. Seems like her being out of the public eye for nearly an entire year, her lack of commitment at stating she's running, or not, the ejection of long standing allies from her campaign committee, all seem to be adding up that she's not going to run, and just hasn't told everyone yet.

Hillary and Rice are just as much to blame as the French.
They both hyped the liesa bout Liyban soldiers engaging in mass rapes, even when there wasn't any evidence.

They might have influenced Obama, but he made the final decision to join in. Germany abstained.
Obama and Hillary and Rice were all chanting "Qadaffi must go". Gates even is quoted in his book "Duty" Don't give the WH too many option on Libya -they'll screw it up"

Robert Gates, former defense secretary, offers harsh critique of Obama
It got so bad during internal debates over whether to intervene in Libya in 2011 that Gates says he felt compelled to deliver a “rant” because the White House staff was “talking about military options with the president without Defense being involved.”

Gates says his instructions to the Pentagon were: “Don’t give the White House staff and [national security staff] too much information on the military options. They don’t understand it, and ‘experts’ like Samantha Power will decide when we should move militarily.” Power, then on the national security staff and now U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, has been a strong advocate for humanitarian intervention

Same with all those Friends of Syria Meetings she set up.....all just waiting to drop Right into her lap. There is no way she can remove herself from BO peeps Foreign Policy.

Although, I think Hillary would have went with sending the Egyptians weapons when they asked. That's her one difference with BO. She didnt like what went down there.

The funny thing is.....Bush Jr. Could have solved the problem and ran Susan Rice, Powers, and Nuland out of government. Then these fools would not be where they are today. I still think we should destroy their careers and force them to hide from the public.

Next GOP President.....will need to clean house thoroughly.

all 3 of those harpies should have been fired long ago.
Obama won't fire anyone - I guess he wants Rice to carry the water for Bengazi some more.
Obama's "kinetic military action" on killing Qadaffi created a terrorist state.

Well he don't mind firing Republicans.....oh BO and his Team did indeed create a safehaven here for terrorists. It was a Concern when on Campaign. Now they just want Libya forgotten until BO hits pasture.
