Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) appears to be giving the thumbs-down on President Donald Trump attending his funeral. According to the New York Times on Saturday, members of the ailing maverick’s inner circle “have informed the White House that their current plan for his funeral is for Vice President Mike Pence to attend the service to be held in Washington’s National Cathedral but not President Trump.” The report comes as McCain — who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer in July 2017 — appears to be in worsening health. The elder McCain, 81, has had a tumultuous relationship with Trump, who infamously mocked his military service during the campaign. “He’s a war hero because he was captured,” Trump said in an appearance at the Family Leadership Summit in 2015. “I like people who weren’t captured.” Trump has also bashed McCain for his July 2017 vote against the Republicans’ “skinny repeal” of the Affordable Care Act — which he delivered in a dramatic thumbs-down vote late in the night, killing the Senate Republicans’ bill.

I can well understand why Senator John McCain, one of the last true Republicans, wants the poser Trump nowhere near his funeral or internment.

Trump implied that McCain was not a hero. Maybe he wasn't. He was shot down over Hanoi, most likely bombing civilian targets. He wreckded numerous Naval aircraft and probably would have been drummed out of the US Navy if his father hadn't been an Admiral. On the other hand, he did show up for the War and in a combat zone, and didn't have bone spurs, five deferrments, crap in his underwear, or any other character defamations related to draft/volunteer cowardice. A overly common malady among our political class, or lack thereof.

Who cares, he squandered a very heroic American patriot stance into becoming a corrupt establishment guy...from at least the Keating 5 onwards.

Not just corrupt, but the overall quality of his work was ****....he is one of the most responsible for the crash of Washington.

And now when he dies I am going to have to put up with endless glowing eulogies from both the R and the D Divisions of the Failed Washington Establishment, because this guy who branded himself a maverick was one of their prime members and facilitators of their corruption and bad work for so many decades.

McCain would have been drummed out many decades ago if the We the People had been willing to do our jobs.

How low class can you get to talk about a funeral for somebody that hasn't even died yet in public.

Why would anybody other than the White House need to know this?

Wonder who will mourn your passing? Beating a man as he transitions is classless! If you have nothing good to say, show some ****ing self-discipline and say nothing at all! Who raised you? You have to “put up with” nothing. Don’t your appliances have an “off” button. You post like a miserable, worthless pøs. Have another drink/toke........

I have a ton of respect for John McCain. For military service, a navy pilot, POW and his service in the senate. Usually voting according to the wishes of the folks in Arizona. That's something most senators forget once they get to Washington. They tend to vote according the the wants of their party leaders and not the way the people back home want.

Far as I'm concerned, Trump doesn't hold a candle to McCain.
 
This is the Captain Bone Spurs that criticized McCain for his POW status and also belittled Gold Star families.

The pseudo-hero who needs a military parade to validate himself. **** Trump. He can go to some Russian funeral where he belongs.

McCain has been a bitter old man since well before Trump came along. He has never been well liked by people on the right because when it came to finding a republican to bash his fellow republicans, McCain was the go-to guy.

Your link doesn't back up your assertion.

It appears that McCain's "intimates," i.e., those anonymous beings who are planning the man's funeral while he's still walking this earth would rather have Pence than Trump. But nowhere at all in your article does it say that McCain doesn't want Trump at his funeral.

Mr. McCain is using a new book and documentary to reveal his regret about not selecting former Senator Joseph I. Lieberman as his running mate in 2008. That is what the team is for.

But given his situation I find it very interesting that he is determined to die in office no matter how badly the people of his state get ****ed over so the he can have what he wants.

This asshole reminds me a lot of Comey.

And Giffords.
