I'll ask the question I asked before; if this was a Republican senator, would the outcry be the same or would people say "This is a free country/free market!"?

Good point, my response is yes I would make the same point whether this was a Republican, Communist, Socialist, Libertarian, Liberal.
In my eyes it is not necessarily the party to which someone (in this instance kerry) belongs to, it is what they as 'ploiticians' advocate for everyone else other than themselves, to me their words and actions smack of hypocrasy.

I wouldn't complain except for the point made above about Kerry being an advocate of higher taxes.
I expect wealthy folks to protect their money just as anyone does, and the more people that would behave in this manner would have the state rethinking their position on taxation.
It's a big country, and it is why most professional golfers live in Florida and not California. They'd live in places where tennis pro's and artists reside but the most lucrative tour is US based. It's why tennis pro's and F1 drivers live in Monaco, Dubai, or Switzerland.
Back during the Clinton years they imposed a luxury tax that sank the boat industry as the wealthy that were targeted didn't need to buy an new boat or yacht at a government mandated screw-the-rich premium. That tax was quietly repealed...
...which proves a couple things:
1. Trickle Down works.
2. Trying to screw the wealthy only harms those down the feed chain.
.
It always depends on what though. Also the best resources this nation has are its people.....sadly we do not focus to much on the development of our people anymore.

John Kerry promises 'prompt' tax payment for yacht
Quote(Sen. John Kerry has told the Massachusetts Department of Revenue he will pay all the taxes due on his new $7 million yacht despite basing the vessel in tax-free Rhode Island.)
One wonders whether this extremely wealthy Democrat has had a change of mind due to his (ahem, conscience) or the media attention he has received for
1) Ordering his yacht to be made overseas, by foreigners.
2) Deciding to berth his brand new foreign built yacht in tax free Rhode island instead of his home state of Massachusetts.
I sincerely doubt that Obama will be overly enraptured that Kerry ignored the fact that American workers working in America are equally up to the task of building a yacht.
So much for Democrats seeking to reduce unemployment in the US.
I leave the guessing to you folks!
kerry has done absolutely NOTHING most of us wouldn't do, dems and reps alike. except i would buy an american made yacht, just as i buy american cars.
John has hooked up with a couple of loaded Phillies to secure his fortune, and it seems he likes to keep what he's earned.George W Bush has chosen tax cuts for the wealthy and special favors for the special interests over our economic future.
John Kerry has the courage to take on the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.
President Bush and John Kerry - Position on Taxes
Kerry: Says he would cut deficit by half, at least, in first term, in part through repeal of Bush tax cuts for wealthier Americans.
