  • President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign has begun reaching out to crypto industry players over the past two weeks for guidance on “crypto community and policy,” sources told The Block.
  • Sources told The Block they noticed a significant “shift” in tone from the Biden administration and campaign toward crypto, with a new willingness to understand digital assets and their communities.
  • The new outreach efforts come shortly after the Biden administration faced backlash for signaling it would veto an alleged anti-crypto bill.

I don't even think Joe Biden knows what bitcoin is. No one who owns crypto is falling for this shameless attempt to win votes.

No, Biden probably doesn't know what bitcoin is, and neither does Trump.

And from the other candidate...
"In July 2019, then-President Trump tweeted that he was no fan of Bitcoin. He said the dollar was the only real currency in the USA. It went further than that. Late in his presidency, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) proposed a regulation that would have required financial firms to collect the identity of any cryptocurrency wallet a user sent funds to (in government parlance, an unhosted wallet). At the time, then-Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said: "As the President has said, Bitcoin is highly volatile and based on thin air. We are concerned about the speculative nature."

I think it's cute that you consider that a shameless attempt to win votes...

Cryptocurrencies are really speculative vehicles which is why they vary so rapidly in value.

. . . .
And 99% of crypto is a grift.
Well, on that sentiment:

It's more like Crypto was supporting Joe (and many others).

Of course, we all know where Bankman-Fried ended up, yes?

I'd be far more supportive of non-Central Bank Digital Currency than a Central Bank Digital Currency, of course Biden appears to want a US government controlled Central Bank Digital Currency,.

so that the government can pull Trudeau moves, denying people access to their own money with mere mouse clicks, and it is this I am most NOT in favor of.

Of course SBF donated to the Democrats. He knew they were the party he had to worry about when it came to regulations.

Is this you admitting we need campaign finance reform?

Democrats like Warren want crypto banned in the United States.

Warren is an obnoxious Karen. She doesn't speak for me or even most Dems.

Are you saying crypto is a grift?

Trump has always been a quick study. His presidency defines it.
Heavy SBF investor, right?

SBF was buying himself legislation and only from Democrats. OK. I'll buy that.

Is this you admitting we need campaign finance reform?
That's a hugely contentious and detailed and far reaching issue worthy of it's worthy thread, if there hasn't been a bunch already.

Of which much has been made of 'Dark Money'.

I'm inclined to agree with you, if this 'dark money' is included.

I'm not afraid to say he tried to buy Dems. I don't even consider myself a Dem. I'm willing to call out corruption everywhere.

Yes, the dark money is a problem. SCOTUS essentially neutered laws/regulations on election money . It's been pretty much downhill from there.

I think your right on that. I think Warren pitches more to Bernie Bros.

It's the Bernie-or-Busters who irk me (and I'm a Bernie fan).

Warren showed her true colors when she attacked Bernie during the primaries. He never once went after her and you could tell he was heartbroken over it.

Caitlyn Jenner issued her own cryptocurrency. I kid you not.

It's going about as well as you'd expect.

Agreed. As is unlimited 'soft money'. From my view, all campaign contributions and expenditures would benefit from complete transparency.

The 'neutering' was for unconstitutional aspects of the law, per your citation.
Would you rather have unconstitutional laws on the books and being enforced?
I'd rather not.
I think I'm pretty safe in the position believing that the concerns the deemed unconstitutional parts were trying to address could be re-written and addressed in a constitutionally compliant manner.

Well, I'm not going to get into that particular within-party squabble.

There's not much in policies from either of them that I find a common chord, but to each their own.
