JD Vance took a quick day trip to Montana Tuesday afternoon to speak to right-wing media mogul Rupert Murdoch and his son Lachlan, who is the chief of both Fox News and its sister corporation News Corp., which publishes the New York Post and Wall Street Journal.

According to the Associated Press, the vice president’s secret meeting also included several executives from Fox News, the conservative cable giant that has largely carried Donald Trump’s water and helped staff up the president’s current administration.


A source familiar with the trip also confirmed to The Independent that the vice president spoke to both Murdochs and a group of executives from the right-wing network at the Murdoch family ranch near Dillon, Montana.

According to NBC Montana, Air Force Two landed in Butte – which is about 70 miles away from the Murdoch ranch – around 2:30 p.m. local time, resulting in a temporary flight restriction in the area. Politico Playbook would later report that the vice president’s plane would take off again shortly after nightfall, meaning Vance was only in the area for a matter of hours.

During his brief visit to Montana, though, Vance and his wife Usha did manage to find time to take a short hike while at the Matador Ranch.

Maybe make a few threats on behalf of the boss?

Or to encourage Murdoch to run with it so Trump will be forced to resign in disgrace, Vance can move up & the Murdochs enjoy a more friendlier White House afterwards?

It serves to remember this: As Vice President, Vance is the one member of the Executive Branch who Donald Trump absolutely cannot fire. So he can actively go politicking around with relative freedom. I am sure Vance is thinking about his political future when Donald Trump is gone, and is busy making friends.

Quite possible. Interesting timing though.
 
I can see a couple of possibilities for this meeting.

The one i like the most is Murdoch has the dirt on Trump is ready to go to war with him.
Vance is there to let Murdoch know he is on his side.

I don't think so.

Vance was there as an emissary from Trump to try to strong arm Rupert to have the WSJ kill the story.

The Journal contacted Trump for his comment before they published. He freaked out and talked to Rupert with no success so he sent JD down to apply pressure. That didn't work either.

It's important to remember that the WSJ employs professional journalists - almost 2,000 of them. Even if he were so inclined Murdoch knows that trying to kill a story like this would backfire spectacularly.

Not only would the story still get out but the paper's journalistic integrity would be tarnished.

A complete lie. Obviously it was a secret.
 
All of this is a big nothing.

The travel and meeting was in June, 5 weeks ago so it has nothing to do with the WSJ and the Trumph B-Day "letter" to Epstein.

The Independent with its date of July 19th for the meeting totally mucked up the works on this. I didn't know anything about the June meeting, I just checked this report out to see if there was anything more about it. I read at another site the Independent mucked up the June date in its report of yesterday the 19th.

My search found the Independent's wrong 19th dated story that would have been hot news was in media everywhere. Somebody said the Independent has issued a correction which sounds about right but I haven't been able to find any such thing. I mean, you name the media and yesterday they carried this meeting story of June as if it had happened last Tuesday.
