nope, they factually do not
you are making an assumption based on your opinion of his stats, sorry you are 100% wrong when you used the word fact
My opinion based on his stats? Do you understand basketball stats?
yep, nice deflection though but its a failure
translation: you cant change the fact that your statement was OPINION
if you disagree prove it was a fact, go!
I don't know about a rush of gay pro athletes coming out, but yeah, there has to be at least a handful in each pro sports league. Every job I've ever worked I've had at least one or two gay coworkers, and those places didn't have near as many employees as pro sports leagues do athletes. So just by the law of averages, if you have sports leagues that have at least 600 to 700+ all male athletes in each league, guaranteed there's at least a handful of gay men in each league.
I never heard of Jason Collins before this, but good for him!
What does six rebounds in thirty-one minutes mean as a center? Suck.
many people gave him a pass though since he had sex with "famous" women Carmen Electra, madonna etc
even rumored that him and cindy crawford hooked up, they at least "seen" each other naked
well you JUST proved how little you know about basketball since you used one stat reflects if the player is good or bad.
Thanks for providing evidence on top of the facts that its just your OPINION LMAO
Most people gave Rodman a pass because he has five NBA championship rings and is widely considered one of the best defensive players of all time. Had Jason Collins not come out, he would've been completely forgotten post-retirement.
Look at the entire stat line if you want then. Please point out one stat that is not mediocre. The only one I see is foul shooting. Yay?
uhm not sure what you are talking about but i was referring to pass on dressing weird, not performance.
nice deflection but again, thank you for proving once again what you dont know.
are you saying stats is the ONLY way of measuring what a player does and since when does mediocre NBA stats mean you suck? all more opinon thanks but you lose
The point is, Rodman was defined by his basketball performance. Collins would've been completely irrelevant in NBA history were it not for his announcement.
Have you shown how that is relevant to his coming out?How well did he fair against the more skilled centers? Is he a shut down defender? What do you think the stats would say about that? You do realize there is stats on that, right?
Please tell me an area where I can't gauge his performance based on stats? Good Luck.

Have you shown how that is relevant to his coming out?
So you have not shown how his stats are significant or relevant to his coming out.I have already commented on men coming out in sports in this thread. You can look back in the thread if you are interested.
As for Jason Collins, he isn't even on a team nor will he probably get another job again in the NBA. I highly doubt anything will change because of this.
So you have not shown how his stats are significant or relevant to his coming out.
As I said before, you guys have this need to denigrate a person to make their actions insignificant.
Hint: Lots of people are talking about this on the national level, it all contributes to acceptance and the ending of discrimination.
Go ahead, keep resisting...."libertarian".
So social change is dependent upon the celebrity value of the person? Was Rosa Parks big before she refused to go to the back of the bus?His worth as a player has a direct correlation on the amount of change his coming out will cause.
There goes that "career" thing again, how is this "ending" of his NBA career significant to his effect on social change due to his coming out? I just don't get how you can predict this.As a mediocre player that is a free agent the best you will get from this is the end of his career.
I see, you are one of those that believes that discrimination based on sexual orientation is OK, you are apathetic on the practice.I have no problem with private businesses deciding on who they desire to do business with on a daily basis. If they don't want to hire gay basketball players I really couldn't give a damn.

That explains a lot.
This wasn't even a matter I brought up, it is funny that you did. I was digging to see just how socially liberal you were, not your free market views.
What is the goal here exactly?
I believe a private business has the right to discriminate on whoever they damn well please. Good enough for you?
What I said should answer your question well enough.
Perhaps we need to reactivate some old "discriminations" so that some people would experience the shoe being on the other foot.................
Uh, already stated, the broader acceptance of homosexuality in society. What is the goal here exactly?
I got that the first time you said it, you are in favor of discrimination based on sexual orientation.I believe a private business has the right to discriminate on whoever they damn well please. Good enough for you?
Indeed, it does and as I said, it explains a lot of other things. What I said should answer your question well enough.
<----white straight American male and too short for the NBA. :2razz:
