Jasmine Crockett claims GOP would rather 'bury their constituents' than fight climate change

The observed data is showing our warming since 2000 (when we could first measure the energy flows) is from
increase Absorbed Solar Radiation, not the longwave radiation that would be caused from added greenhouse gases.
There is not a lot we could or should do to stop the climate from warming, as cooling would be MUCH worse.
I couldn’t care less what stupid right wing thing alll of this is.

"Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, accused Republicans on Friday of wanting to "bury their constituents" after the deadly Texas floods by rolling back ways to combat climate change.

She specifically called out the Trump administration and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem for what she claimed was a delayed response to the flash flooding that devastated parts of central Texas over the Fourth of July weekend.

She went on to blame the Republican Party for voting on the "big, ugly bill" to effectively begin "clawing back" on ways to help combat climate change and prevent similar disasters."

She's right, of course. Gotta own the libs.

But even on a deeper level, death, for the right-wing, whether its due to Covid, guns, the lack of healthcare or the lack of regulations protecting us from natural disasters, is just the price we pay for our freedom.
Crockett is a certifiable nut job.

Not very bright either.

Wait, you believe capitalist corporations are liars and that they are manipulating the market independent of supply and demand?

You are a socialist, comrade?
Not at all, they are just getting the highest price for their product as they can.
Or if they cannot get enough for the product, they do not sell it.

Blaming natural disasters on climate change is the mother-of-all left-wing fake narratives that conveniently ignore the history of the earth and it's historical record. The left needs to save the crocodile tears, stay out of the way and let the local people who are actually affected by the disaster tend to it.
This is just basic, established science. How do YOU know otherwise? What are your sources?

Not at all, they are just getting the highest price for their product as they can.
Or if they cannot get enough for the product, they do not sell it.

But they are saying their price is based on the effect of climate change. Are you saying that is a lie? Are they manipulating the market by lying about the reasons behind their pricing, rather than going based on supply and demand?

No, it’s the latest attempt by the right to try to ignore climate change.
Who is ignoring climate change, the climate is changing.
What do you think we can do that will alter the trajectory of the climate?

There is nothing wrong with their saying the climate is changing because it is.
Places on the coast have higher risks, they always have. Insurance have gambled on those risks
in the past and have lost, now they limit how many policies they will write in a given zip code, to spread the risks out.
It is business not market manipulation.

The same science the insurance companies use to justify raising rates makes it clear that the cause of climate change is human action.

Not at all, you are inferring a connection that is not there!
The climate is changing, and Human activity is involved, but the change is not something we could or should do
anything about. From the insurance company perspective the cause is not important, only the risk exposure.
Say for instance Allstate insures 100,000 homes in Dade County, a single major storm could generate nearly 100,000 claims.
If they spread the same 100,000 policies over the entire east coast of Florida, a single major storm would generate many
fewer claims. They know their business and know how to minimize risk .

She's a dumbass. Lies when the truth would serve her better.

Every morning I wake up to news of a new fire or fires.

This one is only a couple miles away from my home:

Forward progress stopped, thank God. I've never been under an evacuation order, and I hope I never experience this. Another fire last year was similarly close.

Fire is common here, but I've seen more fires the last five years than the previous 40 combined. Precipitation has been good the last few winters, but the extreme heat, which is far more common recently, dries the fuel in no time.

Days over 100 in a year used to be in the one-digits, many if not most times the low one-digits. 20 days appears to be the new normal.
Here's another one in Palomino Valley.

More people temporarily evacuated in Palomino Valley. These small 10-20 acre vegetation fires are happening far more frequently this year than I can remember. Several per day sometimes. Fire season typically gets more severe in August and September, and if the heat stays near 100, timber will be highly flammable by the end of summer.

Sure. But I think the hurricane and rising water issues have more to do with it.
Absolutely. State Farm left Florida and California because of the recent flooding and wildfires. If they thought there was money to be made in those states they would have stayed. Instead, they look at them as future liabilities.

And the experts are universally adamant that the current climate change is being driven by human actions.

The good thing is that the majority listen to the experts. So it is important to mobilize all of us that believe in the urgent need for action and also create hope that change is possible. There this in turn will put pressure on the economical and political elite. That this in turn will lead to business decisions and policies that make it easier and more beneficial for people to reduce their CO2 emissions.
