Pregnancy is a known consequence of unsuccessful contraception, and rape and murder are consequences of unsuccessful self-defense. Using any form of contraception while having sex is a clear statement of the intention not to accept getting pregnant.
That's why, when a woman uses contraception, it is not through her own action that the zygote comes into being, just as, when a woman says "No" and tries to the extent possible to reject sex, it is not through her own action that rape occurs.<SNIP>
According to your chart, the only way to say no is to not bring sperm together with an egg. That means 0%. ...
Give it time, the day is young and the GOP are experts in saying dumb things!
My chart does not have abstinece on it.
Abstinece is not a type of contraception.
Yes, people can abstain from sex.
And there are times in our lives when it may be best if we do abstain from sex.
I abstained until I was married and I encouraged my children to do the same in their teen and young adult years.
But once most people reach their mid to late 20's most want to share an adult commited relationship with someone.
Sex is very impotant part of most adult couple relationships including marriage.
Sex should not be used just create children in most relationships. It is a part of being intimate with their spouce/significate other. It is wanting to please their spouce/partner to make both their spouce/partner and themselves feel closer to each other.
It is a way of showing how much they care about and how much they love each other.
Using contraception is saying no to pregnancy.
If the contraception fails and
pregnancy occurs the woman does not need to gestate and give birth she can have an early legal abortion.
What some people say and what they do are usually two different things. If you say no, then no means no. Abstinence only. That is your only choice that we know of to be truthful, honest, and responsible. Contraception is not no means no. It is no with an asterisk. The asterisk being "but I'm willing to play the odds and potentially compromise my position".
The Constitution has something in there... I think it goes... "the right to life..."
There's multiple reasons to vote against Obama...yet so often Republicans always have to go back to the emotional heart string tugging abortoin issue
And I find it absurdly outrageous that anyone who claims to understand our Constitution doesn't think it applies to that defenseless child from being killed. That is among the most most basic Constitutional rights, the right to LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Accepting the risk of pregnancy does not mean a woman has to continue the pregnancy.
She can accept the risk while knowing that she if she does become pregnant she will have the choice of continuing the pregnancy or having a abortion.
As you said abstience is NOT contraception.
Couples are not going to STOP having sex just because a woman might might get pregnant.
Abstience is not a realistic solution to stop unwanted pregnancies.
THe only realistic way to cut down on the number of abortions in this country is to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies.
The abortion rate has been coming down since 1981.
The abortion percentage of abortions vs 1000 live births went from a high of just over 30 % to hovering between 21.9% to 22.9 during the years 2004-2008( which is the lastest we have the stats for).
That was a decrease of about 8 percent in the last 27 years.
We need more effective ,affordable, easy to use, birth control , with fewer side effects to help bring the number of abortions down another 8 to 10 percent or so.
You seem to be unaware of the difference between the Constitution and the laundry list of why the King Sucks also known as the Declaration of Independence. One is law, the other is a glorified rant. Learn the difference.
It does not surprise me in the slightest that the loudest, most radical on the right here have no real grasp of what the historical and legal documents of our society actually say and readily attribute the statements of one to each other.
If the GOP was really against abortion they'd be for proper sex education, subsidized condoms and subsidized contraceptives. Most of them are not.
"I realize couples will not stop having sex. My point is showing how it is irresponsible behavior if they state that pregnancy is not an option. IMO, we live in a culture that worships and distorts sexual desire, while making excuses for the dangers and responsibility that comes with it. That is why elective abortion sorrows me so much.
Say, I'm against abortion. You want my tax dollars to do what now? Because it sort of sounds like you want the government to teach something it has no business teaching and you want me to buy things other people plan to consume, when they should buy their own.
Yes the mission statement of the United States is just some rant.
