President Trump granted them clemency for their crimes on his first day back in the White House, and in the months that followed, he allowed his Justice Department to purge many of the federal agents and prosecutors who sought to hold them accountable.

But even though the president has given the rioters their freedom and has taken steps toward satisfying their desire for retribution, they are asking for more. In the past several weeks, the rioters and their lawyers have pushed the Trump administration to pay them restitution for what they believe were unfair prosecutions.

On Thursday, one of the lawyers, Mark McCloskey, said during a public meeting on social media that he had recently met with top officials at the Justice Department and pitched them on a plan to create a special panel that would dole out financial damages to the rioters — much like the arrangement of a special master to award money to the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The panel, which Mr. McCloskey called a “voluntary nonjudicial resolution committee,” would consider rioters’ cases individually, he said, then assign them sums according to harms they had purportedly suffered at the hands of the federal government.

How many times will trump’s criminality and immorality haunt us in the years to come?

Ah, the Jan 6 violent thugs are victims, and victims on the same level as those Americans who died on Sept 11?

It will be interesting to see how trump and pam handle this....

Maybe Trump could take some more $billions out of Medicaid and give it to the rioters to compensate them for their "peaceful tour" of the Capitol being interrupted by those nasty policemen!

Their sixth amendment rights were violated. That's why they were hostages and they were absolutely pardoned.

The fact that these officials felt they could just violate someone's constitutional rights really means instead of compensation for the the hostages I'm more for extremely harsh punishment for daring to take away people's fix them in the rights.

For all the imbeciles that had their stupid little no Kings protest they sure do love themselves some Kings.

I don't think so. The people outraged or pretending to be outrageous really is what it is over the January 6th thing are a fraction of the democratic party but they would have never voted for Republicans anyway. No what you got to do to win the midterms is convinced Republicans not to show up.

Saying that protesters from the right side shouldn't have any constitutional rights is not going to be the way to do it that's going to backfire like it did in 2024.

If they were black, theyd all have been treated like Ashley Babbitt.

This all comes from a ridiculous unlimited pardon power granted to the president by the constitution. Their are safeguards in place, but this president chooses to ignore them. There needs to be a way to take this unlimited power away from him.

Why should the Democrats be able to hold hostages?

To right or wrong in violation of people's 6th amendment so that the Democratic party can do a lot of flopping.

Meh, the act of accepting a Presidential Pardon implicitly means each acceptor acknowledges they committed a crime.

So sayeth the Supreme Court in Burdick v. United States (1915). Every person who accepted Trump's pardon knew that was the law at the time of accepting the pardon.

So, now we're giving admitted criminals compensation for committing their crimes?

MAGA has really flipped its lid.

So there was no black people there because there was only one person that died and she wasn't black.
Maga is a white supremacist movement. The folks there were carrying literal Confederate flags. As stupid as most of your arguments are, this one is gonna set records 😂

Accountability for those involved in the fedsurection. Justice for those who were killed.
Compensation for those who suffered worse than those at Abu Ghraib and lost all defending against a DC rigged and stacked deck. 6 am swat raids and diesel therapy and ended careers not enough to make it right. $$$$

For as long as the Lost Cause has plagued our house, at least.

Do the Jan 6thers that went on to commit more crimes after they were pardoned (some being killed by police) also get compensation?

I suspect MAGA will demand that these folks get double the compensation.

WTF?

Fedsurection?

Who suffered worse than those at Abu Ghraib?

A DC rigged and stacked deck?

What is diesel therapy?

Babbit already received justice.

So if I'm getting your correctly nobody should be upset about 1/6 and the people who smashed their way into the capitol to stop the steal, this is normal in politics? Many were hurt, several died and one woman lost her life because she listened to people who are out of their minds. What has anything about that day have to do with the democratic party? Your posts are insulting in your defense of trump and his goons.
