Mr Kirschner is absolutely correct!! All of DJT's coded dog whistles are reaching millions of ears out there who are more than likely planning violent actions Anywhere, USA. These folks are no stranger to domestic terrorism, in which the J6 assault proved it. DJT the scandalous cult leader must be officially contained until tried. imo

According to legal expert Glenn Kirschner, there is a solid history of locking up defendants when they are considered a threat to the community, and that Trump's latest hints about fomenting violence constitute a reasonable reason for special counsel Jack Smith to take him out of public circulation



"Donald Trump should be detained pending trial," the former prosecutor replied. "And I say that not from my own personal preference or animosity, I have for the man."

"I say it because the law provides that when there is clear and convincing evidence that a defendant pending trial presents a danger to the community he is supposed to be detained, or she is supposed to be detained pending trial, that's the law" he explained. "Everyone has ignored that when it comes to Donald Trump."
 
Detaining him may cause more violence than letting him shoot off his treasonous mouth.

It’s hard to accept ‘if you do [unspecified] then we’ll do [unspecified]’ (referred to as “hints about fomenting violence” in the OP link) as being a credible (dangerous?) threat.

In a sense, no matter what, violence is going to happen due to indictments and trials. The longer he and his nutjobs are mouthing codes out into the public, the higher increased planning for violence that takes place. imo

This is the same Trump appointed judge...

From August to December 2022, Cannon presided over the case of Donald J. Trump v. United States of America. Cannon ordered the U.S. government to pause using materials seized from Mar-a-Lago, Trump's private club and residence, in its investigation and granted Trump's request for a special master to review the material. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit reversed Cannon's order, finding that Cannon wrongly exercised jurisdiction over the case. Cannon then dismissed Trump's lawsuit per instructions from the Eleventh Circuit.

Explain why the democrats brought in Jack Smith? A seldom successful prosecutor who has had numerous case decisions overturned for violating the law, with-holding evidence and lying to the court. Wasn't there a good prosecutor in the country? Or did they just need a guy who has no regard for the law but will do whatever he is told by the Biden administration?
 
If Trump were anyone else, he would likely be detained right now. However, he is a previous president and locking up your previous president, even when they are a criminal like Trump, is never a good look for a country.

You appear to confuse my deep concern about the safety of good citizens of our nation for "desperation". There's been plenty of DJT's public mouthing/threats in code that should no longer be tolerated post 1/6/21 and during existing and anticipated indictments. Anyone who views DJT as a harmless innocent blowhard should revisit their own misguided judgement.

A former president hasn't created problems for our democracy and national security like DJT has. DJT's dangerous rhetoric is a bad look for our country.

If Jack Smith were what you described, why would the AG risk bringing in such a bad prosecutor on such high-profile cases?

Perhaps, the goal is simply to help assure that Trump becomes the republicant 2024 POTUS nominee. After all, Joe “Where am I?” Biden beat him in 2020.

When asked about the seriousness of Trump's words towards Smith, Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg told Newsweek on Saturday, "Jack Smith has security because of threats like this. He is clearly taking them seriously. If the threats continue, I expect the DOJ to request a partial gag order from the court, which should be granted."

In politics there's all sorts of political calculations and strategies to get one's party favored guy into office. Personally, I believe it's a big mistake to support the idea that Pres Biden could beat DJT in 2024. Far too much could go wrong that plops DJT's ass back into the oval office. However, the concern here in this thread is the ongoing dangerous rhetoric that keeps flowing out of DJT's big mouth and it's just not to hear himself sound tough. He knows he's got enough idiots out there to attempt violence on their political targets and government agents, etc. J6 is the perfect example!!

Lets consider something here. If DJT is innocent as he claims, why wouldn't he and his power attorneys not ask for a speedy trial, within reason of course, so that DJT could prove his innocence? Why wouldn't DJT, when spouting all sorts of crap in public or posting same same crap on social media declare his innocence and let his followers know that he'll prove his innocence in court - and leave at that? Many other high profiled figure heads pretty much say this or simply say that their lawyers have instructed them not to talk about the case while I'm pretty sure that they have also instructed their clients to not make stupid threats against officials and possibly their families as well. If innocent, let a court trial determine that and let the public know that one, such as DJT, is anxious for that to happen.
 

IMHO, that (bolded above) explains your desire to have Trump locked up pre-trial.
