Jacinda Ardern is the current Prime Minister of New Zealand & has been in office since October 26, 2017.

She is a member of the New Zealand Labour Party & has been its leader since 2017. (source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Zealand_Labour_Party )

Her academic background is a Bachelor of Communication Studies (BCS) in politics and public relations from the University of Waikato, including a semester at Arizona State University.

On 2 December 2020, Ardern declared a climate change emergency in New Zealand and pledged that the Government would be carbon neutral by 2025 in a parliamentary motion.

This is relevant to the other thread: Victoria University of Wellington’s Professor James Renwick was awarded the 2018 Prime Minister’s Science Communication Prize for his IPCC work, according to this March 2019 article: https://www.wgtn.ac.nz/news/2019/03...s-prime-ministers-science-communication-prize

You were presenting the professor as a “denier”, when he is clearly not. From your article:

“If winning this award helps to further the conversation around taking action on climate change and brings more visibility to the issue then that’s fantastic. All I really want to see is us getting on top of the problem and avoiding the worst possible futures.”

Thus, he is clearly a mainstream climate change researcher. Just so you know.

Is she a record holder in office? I seem to remember a buffoon (with a name rather like buffoon) who was Prime Minister for a long time.

And soon to not be Prime Minister because she won't stand by her hot mic words.

Ardern has been, by all accounts, a solid PM and leader. Arguably among the best responses to the pandemic anywhere on the planet and skillful diplomat, despite the occasional hot mic gaffe.

Arderns Labour party are about to lose the next election as the country does it's pretty standard left - right - left - right switch of govts. Normally happens after 2 or 3 terms as the people look to find that centrist balance for their country. Ardern has proven to be an extremely effective crisis leader, but not so good on the BAU stuff, and that is starting to show. Good time for her to leave and give a new leader time before the election, but it won't keep Labour in power come election time. This has nothing to do with any hot mike moment. 90% of the country probably admire her honest assessment of a politician who represents a small minority of views.
