You wake up, feeling like you've been here before but cannot place the feeling. It's 10/7/23. The organization dedicated to extermination of all Jews and destruction of Israel has just inflicted unspeakable tortures, rapes, and murders on Israeli Jews. The blood hasn't quite dried on the ground. For some reason, the universe has conspired to put you directly in charge of Bibi and Israel's military.

First, answer this question: does Israel have the right to use deadly force to fight Hamas? If your answer is "no", say it and leave.

For those who do accept that Israel can use force against a terrorist group dedicated to its destruction and extermination of all Jews:

Second, step by specific step, what would you allow Israel to do to fight Hamas, and what should its goal be?

Third, articulate why it would work.

No cowardly generalities used to avoid tough questions. No redirection or deflection. No blabbing about "but the West Bank." Hamas isn't fighting for the West Bank, and I don't need to know you to know you don't believe that if a country has ever done wrong, others should be free to massacre its citizens.

So if you don't think Israel should just accept that Hamas gets to murder, then for the love of all that is holy do what you've been avoiding this whole time and lay out a plan. Describe in detail what Israel should have done to destroy Hamas or render it irrelevant. Explain why it would work.

For example, do you think Israel shouldn't bomb and instead send its soldiers into the shooting gallery that is Gaza, one of the densest places on Earth? Should they only use certain bombs and not others? If so, which bombs and why? Would they be able to achieve the same results? Etc etc etc. Stuff like that. Lay out a plan.



I ask because all I've seen in the last year, from the anti-Israel crowd, is a bunch of purely one-sided piecemeal condemnations of anything and everything Israel has done in its fight against Hamas. Sometimes I agree. The idea of killing 140 people in a refugee camp to get 2 Hamas commanders is monstrous. Blocking aid for as long they did was monstrous. Ok. But I'm talking about people who say "of course Israel has a right to defend itself" as a disclaimer, but then end up saying that anything Israel is reported to have done is wrong, on a case-by-case basis.

Well, tell me, what could Israel do to fight back against Hamas?



Let's throw out these phony venires of moral superiority. There none here. Every single answer - even the monstrous and anti-semitic answer of "of course Israel has no right to defend itself!" - means arguing for a course of action in which innocents die.

So, tell me, leader of Israel, what should Israel do with respect to Hamas?




NOTE: this is not about the long-term planning for peace. This is just what to do re: Hamas, right from 10/7.
 
How about not allow it to happen in the first place? 10/7 was like Pearl Harbor, your telling me that Mossad can precisely off targets across the region but when it came to a sophisticated plan from a non-state organization next door they missed it??

Unresponsive to the question posed. The Israeli civilian population has come under periodic rocket attacks from both Hamas and Hezbollah for decades, because total eradication of the Jewish state has been their incessantly expressed goal for generations already. Hamas themselves could have returned the hostages and exited Gaza 10 months ago, if they had the least little concern with the slaughter of resident Palestinians, but the fact is, they desperately want them to be slaughtered because it serves Tehran's propaganda interests. And ignorant Americans fall for the terrorist's strategy.

That is because Israel BROKE the 2008 ceasefire that was the only extended period of peace the region saw.

Im sorry but what happened to israel is not like pearl harbor not even close to the death count its still bad but thats a wild comparison.

The people who compare it to the halocaust 1 thousand jewish people died and 6 million died in the holocaust thats a huge difference.

If this was massive slaughter then i would compare it to something like that.

Let it happen how even before october america funded the iron dome they already gave israel billions for defense.

I just think people dont look before october and some of what israel has done its been going on for awhile with this conflict.
 
Its just tiring how any time innocent people die they say the word hamas.

Israel told people to go to the south to rafah to a safe zone then they bombed the safe zone.

They said dont worry you will be safe were only killing people in hamas who dont flee to the south.

If a foreign militia came into our country and slaughtered 1200 of our citizens and captured 250 hostages to be used as playing cards in a daily game hostage release, I would expect our government to use whatever means possible to hunt down and eliminate every one of those miserable bastards.
Would there be regrettable collateral damage? Sadly so.
Did the WW II Allies during the last years of fighting in the Pacific worry about domestic protests targeting their governments because too many Japanese civilians were killed near those industrial plants located in Japanese cities? Of course not.
If any clueless poster decides to yell "What about proportional response?", I would say "What about the tens of thousands of rockets lobbed into Israel from Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, and the Houthis in Yemen over the past 12 months"?
It is very sad the citizens of Gaza and Lebanon were hopelessly weak over the past couple of decades because they had little or no control over the governments they elected to run their miserable shithole countries. That's what comes from having lawless countries (Gaza and Lebanon) where those territories are ruled by armed militias which strike fear into the populations they are dominating. Like Nazi Germany in the 1930s. They learned too little too late to change the course of their history.

Like as though Palestinians and Lebanese wake up in the morning, have their tea and toast, go to the shed at the bottom of the garden and get out rockets to fire at Israel/Israelis.

Do you think 57 years of...............

Illegal occupation,

illegal settlement,

illegal apartheid,

siege,

collective punishments,

detention without trial,

torture while in prison,

endless check points by a foreign military in your own country,

regular massacres,

indiscriminate attacks,

disproportionate attacks,

shooting kids in the head,

shooting people waving white flags,

mass human rights abuses,

ethnic cleansing,

home demolitions,

human shield usage,

constant targeted assassinations,

denial of freedom of expression,

denial of freedom of association

and on and on, just might explain some of those rockets?

But hey, " no one's hands are clean", right?

That's what everyone who supports the state terrorism of Israel expects the Palestinians to do, including you.

From 1967 onward they had the chance/opportunity to conclude a two state solution with the Palestinians.

They chose territorial expansion instead, a territorial expansion that requires ongoing endless illegal occupation, illegal settlement, illegal annexations, regular mass violence/slaughters, mass rights violations of the entire OPTs population, sieges, ethic cleansing, mass detention without trial, torture, apartheid

It's a question of how to get Hezbollah and Hamas to stop lobbing rockets into Israel.
My answer is to wipe Hezbollah and Hamas off the face of this earth.

And your answer to stop Israeli state sponsored ethnic cleansing and the IDF supported terrorists in East Jerusalem and the West Bank?
 
I don't know all of the the answers and I couldn't be sicker of those with extreme views on both sides, but here's what I do know.

I don't live in a world where I can look at an Israeli and Palestinian civilian and not see their lives as equal. If you do then you are part of the problem. They are equal and they are worthy.

I also like to think that I have much higher standards than Hamas and just because they don't appear to care much about the civilians in Gaza, it doesn't mean other decent human beings should not. It's ok to not hate all Palestinians and Israelis.

It's also ok for people to help anyone in great need of assistance. International and independent medical humanitarian organisations have been delivering emergency medical aid to people affected by armed conflict and other healthcare needs in countries worldwide for years without being dehumanized and made out to be terrorist supporters or being asked "but why are you in Gaza, why not somewhere else." No one ever tries to dehumanize them if they go to Africa, Ukraine, Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria, South Sudan, etc.

It's disgraceful. Don't say it doesn't happen because it does.

And now for probably the most unpopular view here...

I do not support the destruction of Gaza's health system. A hospital whose primary purpose is to house sick and injured civilians along with dedicated health care personnel who are just trying to save lives, should not be a legitimate target.

Recognised hospitals and health care facilities should not lose their protected status.

Please don't attack hospitals. Fight Hamas elsewhere.
 
Any discussion of Hamas that is not rooted in asking why they exist and what the root cause of their struggle is, is not a discussion rooted in good faith.

Why do people bring up the West Bank? Because in the West Bank there is an absence of Hamas leadership yet the dynamics remain the same. The Palestinians there are still oppressed, occupied, brutalized, displaced, murdered by the Israeli state without accountability, colonized, and having their human rights consistently violated. If you removed Hamas from Gaza you would get the same. Whether or not you like their ideology, Hamas is a resistance group, and no discussion of a resistance group can be considered honest of you're not willing to have an honest conversation about why they are resisting.
