And what's even worse than the distracted indifference is the fact that people in this forum openly support it, defend it and attack others who are rightly appalled by it.

That terrorist ridden land that your always going on about?

Quick question, Port & Starboard: Do you think people are simply born to be terrorists? As in they are born evil and when they fully mature they cannot help be be monsters? That even if a baby who is born in Gaza and taken out and adopted and raised by a nice loving, Western family with Western Democratic Ideals, when they reach adulthood they will simply pick up a semiautomatic rifle and go shoot up a synagogue at their soonest available opportunity?

I agree but that is not going to change. They (and their supporters) need to do something different.

There is absolutely nothing about Israel, I want to subsidize. I don't want one dime of my tax dollars to directly or indirectly support ethnic cleansing regardless, but Its not like we are getting anything for it. They completely ignore and discard our wishes, doing exactly as they damn well please and we end up looking like we would enable any and every breach of international human rights treaty ever written because we do it for Israel.

The cruel irony is that Israel has not needed the blood money in weaponry we have been paying to it for its national security for decade!. They have of one the strongest intelligence and military services in the world.

This is not 1948 or 1972 anymore.

Part of the reason America is averting its eyes to Palestine stems from the way progressives have gone about protesting it.

I don't think this is accurate at all, since this has been an issue well before these recent protests. US policy and its portrayal of the conflict has a lot more to do with attitudes here than anything else.

Who started this? Hamas. Hamas in Gaza. Hamas in Gaza that runs Gaza and was elected by the people in Gaza. Seems like Gaza is the problem.

...really? Seems more like manufactured consent through a concerted media campaign to downplay Israeli atrocities and not air any criticism or debate of their genocidal campaign against Gaza.

There is plenty of media criticism of Israel. Progressives, however, seem to expect journalists to circulate or accept without verification unreliable social media information which often seems to originate from groups (or nations) with an agenda, including simply to divide the American left.

But to continue my original point, yes, the way progressives have protested this--by frequently cannibalizing their own coalition, sabotaging the presidential election, and through disruptive protests, has been counterproductive. Most people still give our ally Israel the benefit of some doubt, and in the end are far more concerned about the terrifying things happening in this country. You may disagree with me, but at the end of the day, people like me are the ones you are mostly likely to get on your side, and if your tactics are turning people like me off it is something you should consider. A problem with the progressive attitude generally is they prefer to shame rather than convince people.

One reason....

Hamas refuses to release any remaining hostages.

Of course they're not 'born' to be terrorists. They are brainwashed from the cradle to be terrorists. That's how Gaza became a "terrorist ridden land".
