Israel and the US, two ostensibly civilized democracies, are complicit in a genocide being executed in broad daylight - to take the land for real estate.

Israel's far-right finance minister Bezalel Smotrich has said the Gaza Strip could be a "real estate bonanza" and that he is in talks with the US about dividing up the territory after the war - an idea previously condemned internationally.

Speaking at an event in Tel Aviv, he said "a business plan is on President Trump's table".

"We've done the demolition phase... Now we need to build," he said.

I don't think I've ever used the word 'evil' to describe people but this has me leaning in that direction.

The world should use this aspiration to try to talk some money out of the Israelis to do a rapid resettlement of the Palestinians under somewhat tolerable conditions. I know that's giving up, but if there's a choice between giving up and them all dead, we should avoid repeating the mistakes of 1938. I also don't think many Jews nowadays wish that their family had been able to stay in Russia.

The Israelis, of course, are not really "finished" with the demolition phase. Substantial rubble is still standing, presumably studded with unexploded ordinance, so I think they are going to have a long, slow, frustrating process ahead of them before they can reappropriate it to any use.

Gross.

If we come out the other side, let's remember not to make the mistake of mercy for these monsters. Our grandparents made, or tolerated, that error, and the whirlwind is reaping us.
??? The Germans and Japanese are not exactly oppressing the world right now.

To the contrary, we need to be prepared for a very sudden, dramatic shift to official anti-Semitism at the highest levels of US government, and be ready to remind people that we have many Jewish people in America who were not just puppets of Smotrich, but actively involved in denouncing these crimes.

Yay imperialism is back again…. /sarc. At least they are admitting they destroyed shit instead of the usual pretending nothing was there.

Yep, that's the odious Zionist bastard who told us that starving Gazan citizens to death was "morally justifiable". There are no adequate words to describe that variety of scum.
